I'm not trying to jinx Marta or the team in general, but I've been curious what others think about how important Marta is to the team. If they could win without her for example, who would step up if something horrible happened to Marta??
Would Sol be a league leader even without Marta?

XL Blur LT2 - thinking about selling

opinions on this used 2007 giant anthem for racing.

I found what i think is a pretty good deal on a large 07 giant anthem with around 250 miles on it and a really light build. It is not local but i had an acquaintance take a look at it, his comments were that it had some scuffs and rub marks. The chain is warn out, the M960 crank rings are pretty warn out, especially the large expensive one. And the front brake needs to be bleed. other then that i guess it looked pretty good. Anything i should look at in particular with this bike and build?

Open and closed systems?

I've been pretty frustrated with the flimsiness of Magura marta levers. Top that with occasional unpredictable ghost fades and I'm thinking I need a different system.
I have considered replacing the lever with another more reliable closed system i.e. Shimano or Hope. I'd just put the lever on the existing Marta caliper since the problem doesn't lie there.
This got me thinking about the possibility of running a closed system hydro lever: i.e. Magura hs-33 on the marta caliper.

Formula R1 brakes

Has anyone tried Formula R1 brakes? How's the feel? Modulation?
My Jones bike currently has BB7's with Avid Ultimate levers. I was thinking about upgrading to a set of nice, light hydraulics. I've used the Magura Marta SL's in the past, but was not so impressed with the modulation. I haven't tried the new Hope stuff as all my brakes are about 2 years old. I'm currently running Hope Mono Mini brakes on most of my xc and trail bikes (I'm running Mono M4's on my Rogue).
