You wan't to know what I think about this event?
(11 Apr 2009)
What a Glorious day!!
My experiences from participating in the previous Easter events have lead my to this undeniable conclusion....this years Easter event so far has rocked my socks off. =D
The best part is it isn't even over! blaugh
Who knows what will happen when the Easter Bunny arrives. =o
From the Cash Shop to Zomg, everything seems to have been a hit. I, personally, was glad for the item granting system. It gives competition I think, or at least a feeling of victory for getting to the las...

EVENT: Thinking about taking a day off...June 30, 09
(29 Jun 2009)
My Birthday is the end of this month (the 30th), and so I am thinking about taking Monday the 29th off and going for a drive somewhere. Anyone else that wants to come along is invited. I'm open to ideas? I was thinking about meeting at my house in the mid morning and then going up and over the Alpine Loop, then up into Heber somewhere for lunch and then onto the fun drive through Coalville and down through East Canyon. Like I said though if someone has a more fun or more scenic route I'm open to...

Is Marathon Des Sable really a trekking/hillwalking event than a running ...
(18 Apr 2009)
Thought I'd ask this question on MdS to see what others think. I came across this thread while googling MdS.
Its an endurance event but having talked to some of my BA squaddie friends who've done the event (and knowing a fair bit re endurance events), they are amazed at the lack of preparation of some of the entrants who think its a running event and it just becomes a long hillwalking event that requires orientation skills. The top-end people who do it, do so as a running event but for majority...

Thinking about getting a DSLR...
(07 Jun 2009)
I'm thinking about getting the Nikon D60 DSLR. I currently only have a point and shoot, and it's time for a severe upgrade. I'm not a master photographer by any means and I probably only know how to use 1/10th of its features, lol. But I got to start somewhere and thought this would be as good as any. The lens it comes with has a built in stabilizer.
I'll be using this for photos of family, friends, cars, random scenery and I may start to branch off into taking pics for local events.

Opinions on Collegiate Sr. Event
(22 Apr 2009)
I took my new horse Jay for a saddle fitting and my current saddle doesn't fit him very well. Since it isn't the greatest for me and would cost $400+ to fix, I am looking at getting a new saddle.
I like to do dressage as well as some jumping. I have previously done some Novice level eventing, and wouldn't rule out wanting to do that again. Because of my horse's build (very narrow TB) and price constraints, the saddler is suggesting that I go with the Collegiate Sr. Event. He also says, however,...

Opinions Wanted Gallery Events that draw the public
(29 Apr 2009)
I have a gallery in Las Vegas where we hold several art events per year. Here is what I have tried:
1) Regular artist reception for local artists
2) Artist Market - where all art is $100 or less
3) Reception for two nationally know artists
4) Art reception plus 6 weekly art presentations by art guild
I am looking for ideas to draw the buying public. Anyone tried successful fundraisers? How about local school events, featuring students? Tried using a Celebrity to draw the crowd? Other ideas?
Need...

Something to think about re: Obama and torture
(21 Apr 2009)
I can't take the credit for finding this. I heard it on the Thom Hartman show. But it was a very inspiring thought to me and I think it's good advise. If we follow Obama's call and "make him do it", we can pursuade him to prosecute the war criminals.

Start thinking about it
(04 May 2009)
I plan to hold a get together in the next few months up here in Tolmie (North East Victoria).
It will be a whole weekend event. We have some accomodation and tons of room for tents, caravans and campervans.
I'm not a turner but welcome anyone wanting to bring a lathe or two.
If anyone wanted to bring a portable mill, that too would be made welcome.
I have a reasonably sized shed (9X12) equipped for cabinet type work including a few hand tools.
At our place you can run noisier machines like route...
