Thinking about giving up photography... is this normal?

I've got a Rebel XT, with a Sigma 10-20 and 50mm f/1.8...
I've shot real estate photography and a few photos for a friend who occasionally DJ's... but the money I've made from this is barely enough to fill my gas tank. I work at a camera store now and I love it, but I've been thinking if it's really right for me?
1) I can't justify spending $1000s of dollars just to be considered "Good"
2) People with point and shoots have a tendancy to take better pics than some with DSLRs...

Thinking about setting up a reptile photography business

after another year shooting macro in the summer time by the end of the summer beginning of winter im hoping to set up a reptile photography business..This is how its going to work..i advertise..people reply wanting me to shoot there pets..i was thinking somthing like 50£ for 50 images burnt on to cd to do what you like with..its still in a thinking stage at minute hence why i done a thread hear..i want to know if you could get 50 of the best images of your reptile on cd how much would you be wil...

THis all started because I wanted to get a cheap $100 upgrade stand alone camera from my current one.. a 2mp cellphone camera.
But now I am going to go pick up a Canon SD1200 which is very nice for a simple, very small, point and shoot camera for everyday shooting.
But now I would like to get an advanced camera in the future, something more professional, in a few months maybe. Not a DSLR, I'm saving those for a couple years, but another point and shoot/compact. The big difference is I want one w...

Its been ages since ive been here, and have always come back due to the courtesy, professionalism and honest opinions of colleagues ive had here. albeit not a great poster, i lurk quite often when the upgrade bug hits me.

Thinking about ditching 5DMII for 1DsMII, Need Opinion:

So this is where I am. I got the 5D Mark II a couple months back for 2300 with grip. I have been happy with it for the most part, but there are some things that kind of bug me. I like the low noise at 1600 and 3200 and the video is a nice touch to mess around with. The screen is very purtty too.
What I don't like is the AF. When I shoot in low light, which is a lot, the thing hunts. I use a 50 1.4 most of the time and it isn't the slowest lens out there, but not the fastest. I just drives me cra...

I am really trying to pull in some more money for my studio by marketing in as many areas as I can. One area that I would really like to reach out more is my Pet Photography. I recently got the idea to team up with pet stores and vet clinics to market for pet photography (much like marketing with a boutique store for portraits). I had a couple of questions:

I know. I know... Just call me the queen of procrastination!! I'm working on my son's graduation announcements. I've got to submit them NOW so I can mail them mid-week next week... Yikes!
Anyway, my family is all gone and I need opinions. I plan to print these as 5x7 flat cards from WHCC. I have trimmed away the "safe zone" to see what they should look like.

My Photography, Looking for some opinions X3

Some of this stuff is old, but of late i have been real uninspired, and a lot of my photographs have been of birds and or animals. But i have always felt that well the animal thing is like really repetitive. On what i show you here, and for those who go look at my gallery, do you think i should continue taking animals photographs? Also tell me if there any good, (please don't just dis them tel me what i could do to make them better if that is possible).
