1. High comp pistons   (07 May 2009)
Got some questions on pistons here. 1) Which would give better torque and power, low comp or high comp pistons? I have gotten contradicting opinions from friends. 2) If pistons are changed, would it be necessary to change some other parts as well? 3) Would FC change drastically, whtr higher or lower? Thnks!

3. Pistons Taking A Look At Eric Maynor   (28 May 2009)
Quote: Eric Maynor has workouts and interviews scheduled with the Warriors, Raptors and Wolves, but he also will add Detroit to the list. “I saw (Pistons coach) Mike Curry (Wednesday) and he asked was I coming up there,” said Maynor. “I know I’m going up there, but I don’t know the exact date, though.” http://www.freep.com/article/20090528/SPOR...r+likes+Pistons Hey Laker fans! 4. Brake Tech - Lemons calipers. How many pistons?   (15 Apr 2009)
We are looking to re-brake the Lemons Amazon. We have scrounged up some Ford Mustang GT Front rotors that look like they will fit inside 14" wheels, and have the same bolt pattern and will roughly fit onto the machined Volvo Hub. The question is this: For our purposes, 2400 lb car, 70-80 mph straightaway speed, endurance racing: is a four piston caliper going to be noticeably better at stopping or at pad wear than a sliding 2 piston caliper? The reason I ask is that the Mustang rotor isn't as "d...

5. Machine valve pockets/reliefs in stock pistons?   (04 May 2009)
I am rebuilding my 3.3 turbo engine and using new Mahle C2 Turbo pistons & cylinders. One builder suggested that I machine reliefs in the pistons to insure against piston/valve contact. I will be purchasing upgraded valve springs as well, though have not yet decided whose to buy. I forget what he Quote: d to do this work. I know it is common on aftermarket pistons. Any opinions on whether I should do this? Incidentally, a bent exhaust valve is what ultimately led to this rebuild...

6. CP pistons custom order for 350x   (22 May 2009)
This is just to build some awareness. I have spoken with a gentleman in there sales tech department concerning doing a custom run of pistons for the 350x. If you aren't aware of who CP Pistons is...I suggest going to the following website http://www.cppistons.com/ reading and then search the web for opinions and reviews of their products. I would say that they EASILY make the best piston in the business for an atv. They have even managed to make the 450 pistons reliable. There are many stories t...

7. Series Thread the Detroit Pistons   (20 Apr 2009)
Game #1 preview from the PD Quote: : Chris McCosky of the Detroit News writes about Detroit's task in facing a Cavaliers' team led by LeBron James: The Pistons are doing what every scrappy underdog team must -- con themselves. Delete the 39-43 season, including three losses to the Cavaliers, from their memory. Don't think about James' incredible MVP season or the Cavaliers' 66 victories or 39-2 home record. Both teams are 0-0. Pistons/Cavs preview

8. Compression ratio concern: 56.6cc heads and stock 5.0 pistons   (09 May 2009)
bought a set of heads that were supposedly 64cc but found out they are 56.5cc. I really want to use these heads, but know that 56.5cc is very low for a boosted combo. I have thought about Cometics, but am unsure if I could get back to 61-64cc with a gasket change. I also planned on using Fel-Pro 9333pt-1 head gaskets which seem to be a favorite doing a search on here. I also searched and found mixed opinions using Cometics. The pistons I plan on using are Speed Pro http://store.summitracing.com/...

9. 7mgte oversized pistons & rings   (25 Apr 2009)
pulled apart a 7mgte block for rebuild, cylinder2 has a nasty cross hatch and a gouge in the cylinder wall, depending on the cost thinking about punching it out 20-30 over and throwing in oversized pistons rather than take a chance on the rebuild, the parts morons at the stores arent much help with the pistons, anybody know where i can get a set for $200-300? dont need racing gear, just a stock oversized piston, motor is going in a 84 toyota pickup rock crawler. little help??? also....i was plan...
