3D Pin Shooters! What yardage do you set pins?
(21 Apr 2009)
I shoot a 4 and 5 pin sight for 3D. I was wondering at what yardages you guys set your pins at. I am thinking about setting them at odd yardages because i rarely ever see targets at what i think are dead on 30, 35, and so on. I was thinking setting them at 27, 30, 33, 36, and 40 for my 5 pin sight and 30, 33, 36, and 40 for my 4 pin sight. I shoot the Hunter class with 40 yard max. I have only seen 2 targets in my first 3 shoots under 30 yards. I would appreciate some info. from you pin shooters...

Lapel Pins
(17 Jun 2009)
For my part, I despise them in general. Especially flag lapel pins, but I don't want to focus on that in particular.
There are a couple of exceptions, I think.
1) Where one is specifically representing a group (e.g. - I attended an event as a stand-in Chamber of Commerce representative a few weeks ago), or 2) within a particular group/tribe. Perhaps showing an elite membership within a group strictly at that group's functions.
Opinions? Flames? Yawns?

SS Pins for review and opinions
(03 May 2009)
Based on what I've seen so far..I feel pretty good that at least one of these FM pins is a reproduction. The other FM pin I'm not sure about and the third..no idea.
Any help and comments would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Ken

How many pins for hunting?
(20 May 2009)
I am new to bow hunting, and I'm looking for some advice on how many pins I should have in my sight? I've ordered a 3 pin Spot Hogg, and thought that 20, 30, and 40 yards would cover pretty much all of the hunting I would be doing here in WI. Please give me some opinions here. More pins seem like they would block more of the target. Thanks for any info.

Are Hood Pins Necessary With a Carbon Fiber Hood?
(10 Apr 2009)
I just installed a CF hood, and when I hit around 90 it begins to flutter slightly. I'm not sure if it's air pushing down on it, or air trying to lift it up... It rests on the rubber stoppers where I'd imagine there'd be some give when pushing down, but as far as lifting up, the latch and the hook seem pretty solid. I'd imagine the hood is prone to move up and down slightly due to it's reduced mass since I can see the center portion pulsing along with the engine at stoplights.
The hood is gorgeo...

preloading pins
(20 May 2009)
i was thinking about preloading the pins with each shot for the next ten weeks. i knoiw this might be a stupid question, but i have to ask, is this okay for the oil to be kept in the plastic (i think they're plastic right?) syringe rather than the glass vial?
thanks for all your help with my current cycle guys..

Broken Chains - Derailleur issue or pins?
(08 Jun 2009)
I have a stock Trek Fuel EX-8. On my first ride I snapped the SRAM chain in two. I think that it was user error (uphill load while shifting) I fixed it on the trail and kept going.
I went and picked up a XTR 9-speed chain and replaced the SRAM. I didnt take enough links out so I had to pull a couple of links out. On my third ride out I snapped the new chain, light load, granny gear, no shifting. I didn't have a new Shimano pin so I pushed an old pin through. I snapped it about a mile later, ligh...
