Squealing Brakes!!

Ok, I have had both my front and rear brakes replaced within the last 6 months. About 2 months after my rear brake job, my brakes started squealing. I've ignored it for a while, but it seems to be getting worse. It mostly happens when the brakes are cold and/or wet. After I drive for a little while, they don't squeal as loud, but I can still hear it sometimes.

Rear Brake Shield Gap - Causing Squealing?

Hey all
Here is the story. For a while now if I do a right hand turn fairly hard I tend to get a metallic squeal from my right hand rear side. It has been annoying me a lot so finally found some time to get the wheel off and have a look.
The disc brake shield seems to be sitting at a rather odd angle and I was thinking that under load the disc may be moving enough to rub the shield itself.

OK, so I'm getting a squealing noise from my 2001 TDI. Definitely engine-related. Only does it for the first 2-3 minutes in the morning. After that, if it's there it's drowned out by the usual diesel engine sounds. After the car sits for 2 hours or so, it comes back softer but again disappears after a few minutes of running.
Sounds like a bearing going out to me. A high-pitched, metallic squeal. Not continuous, but a short squeal once per revolution. Here is a link to a video with sound. http://...

First off, I just want to say that ALLAN YOUR COMICS ARE AWESOME. I read them all over the course of a few days, in between playing Fire Emblem for Wii and Gamecube (I still play Gamecube because they're obviously the greatest game systems evar) and doing homework due when spring break ends. Which strings are best for squeals?

i kind of draw a blank when it comes to strings... basically i want some that are the same price as any other strings (around £6), but as well as being long lasting and good sounding (blah blah blah...), they need to be great for pinch harmonics!
im talkin like some zakk wylde kinda shnit here!
at my local music shop all i can get is d'addarios, rotosound, and ernie balls and ive tried them all and basically i want to see if there is anything better out there?

I have an SSC at the moment (55nm, 216SP), and it squeals rather loudly at high FPS (e.g. F@H, loading screens, etc.) and is basically driving me nuts. I even get some buzzing during gameplay when FPS is high. I think one of the reasons I can hear it so easily is just that I went to great lengths to make the rest of the computer quiet (and my room is quiet), so it stands out easily, unfortunately. I'm thinking about either RMA'ing the card to get a new one and hope it doesn't squeal, or getting...

I know not many people here probably like this style, but I would like to see what you guys think. Personally, I haven't heard better pig squealing (but that's just me). Hopefully this would be classifyed as "true metal", otherwise you can move or close this thread. Just looking for some honest opinions.

Ok so my brakes have been squealing and grinding on occasion so i took it in today thinking it was a bearingthey said it was just the brakes so i got new pads, and rotors and they told me that my calipers were freezing up and the brakes werent fully disengaging soo after 4 hours they had me out the door (told me it only take 1) and the squeal seems even louder now, they only did the front two... but wtf i took it in to get rid of the squeal,and it got worse anyone have an opinion i would appreci...
