As you probably already know, OVI store will support only Java, C++ and Flash. I can not understand *why* Python was not considered as an eligible language for OVI Store. Consulting Bill Perry and talking to Gerry Moth, I saw the following answer:

I guess I answer this question in my head all the time with a "hell yes" and a "hell no"!
I am working on skin tones and color cast now and will go through and rework the photos that I choose for the application set.
But I was hoping some of you could look through my blog [not just the first page] and let me know what you think!?
I'm hoping to apply after my move to AZ in September and work towards launching a part-time biz next year.

Thinking about Refreshing the Firefox Icon

As we get closer to releasing Shiretoko (Firefox 3.5) we are considering that this might be a good time to update and evolve the Firefox application icon. We will likely be leveraging some conceptual work created by Jon Hicks during the development of Firefox 3, but otherwise we are just now getting started.

I've got an application that runs on vista which is written in C#. The application is responsible for
1) creating a connection to the device a) Bluetooth b) IR c) USB That works correctly cause I can issue AT commands to it and find phonebook entries, Message entries etc...
Problem
I'm trying to retrieve the stored images on the handset. There's not AT command for this, and I can't seem to find an SDK or any other library that can do this for me, thats written in C# also.

Sounds like an easy question, doesn't it? But when you really get down to it, it's a really complex question because usefulness means different things to different people. It also means different things depending on the category of application. So this thread will be a place where people can leave their opinions (in general or citing specific software) about what they think makes an application "useful".

I know Joel says to never do it , and I agree with this in most cases. I do think there are cases where it is justified.
We have a large C++ application (around 250,000 total lines of code) that uses a MFC front end and a Windows service as the core components. We are thinking about moving the project to C#.
The reasons we are thinking about rewriting are:

After all my hard work, internships, doing a 4 year degree in 3 years, and juggling family, I'm about to jump off the deep end and think about applying for fall 2011 instead of fall 2010. I finally reach my target and then push it back some more lol

Converting an existing PHP application on to a framework

A couple of years ago I developed an online shop & content management system from scratch. It doesn't use any kind of framework like symfony, cakephp, etc - it never really occurred to me at the time.
