The Street Food of Our Cities
(26 May 2009)
The following 2 articles got me thinking about what our cities have to offer in the way of street food:

(05-25) 18:05 PDT -- Curtis "the Creme Brulee Guy" stands behind his cart in Dolores Park in a chef's hat and white jacket. Tourists drape their arms around him for a picture, and two members of the press try to talk to him while he blowtorches the caramelized sugar on his hom...

Because Everybody Eats
As we say in the muscle-building world, nutrition is responsible for 50% of your results. Or is 75%? Heck, I've even heard 90%!
Whatever. We'll let the experts argue numbers. But this much is certainly true: If you aren't paying attention to the foods you eat, you're severely hurting your chances of building a muscular, lean, healthy body.
But let's go a step beyond the obvious.
Tell me, what do fat peo...

Favorite Asian cuisine
(05 Jul 2009)
The Asian cuisines are similar, yet different. I've for instance tried the same dish in different cuisine, but my favorite always come out Thai.
I prefer the hot and/or sour taste, which is what I associate with Thai cuisine. In my opinion, Japanese and Chinese dishes are either too sweet or bitter. I've never tried Korean and Vietnamese food, so I have no opinion about those. And I love Indian food :3
How about you?

Are you an adventurous eater?
(13 Jun 2009)
I went to an Asian market yesterday to get prepared dried squid (soooo good!) and ended up browsing a bit and buying a few different things. Some of the stuff I'd had before (seaweed seasoning to go on rice (to die for!), my squid, and a few other things. But I got a tin of roasted eel and a honey ginger drink mix that I thought would be fun to try. I just opened up the eel (it's packaged like sardines or kippers) and OMG it was SO darn good! It's seasoned somehow (dont know what flavor though,...

Using Puppypups posts, this is how a date would go with K-Dog and Puppypup. Additions appear in italics.
KD picks PP up in the SPEEDHUMPER .
KD: Well, now we can get a chance to know each other in person.
PP: Yes, I would like that. Do you want to date me or something? I have a vajajay. I told that to ROBBYG but he didn't bite.
KD: Err, how do you like to spend your day?

Not wanting "organic" bread
(25 May 2009)
A little incident early this morning, as another reminder how much there needs to be ongoing education for the public about healthy foods. Different tactics have to be used for different population segments, depending on the local population demographics for :
Eating least processed food, food closest to their natural state and also food that has less chemicals and other additives to improve "mouth feel".
A Filipino woman (I judged this from her visage and her accent) beside me in line-up at the...

Philo-Semitism
(17 Jun 2009)
I've just been reading about philo-Semitism, which is basically the fascination and approval of Jews, Zionism, etc. I was reading an article about it in Japan, and pretty well everything said applies equally to Koreans.
On the surface, it sounds like the exact opposite of anti-Semitism, but the two are closely intertwined.
Anti-Semitic belief: "The world is controlled by Jews who run all the banks and make life harder for the rest of us."
A philo-Semitic statement you might hear from a Japanese...

The Unofficial Guide to Fast Food
(29 May 2009)
THE NUTRITION SECTION'S UNOFFICIAL GUIDE TO FAST FOOD
When you’re out with your friends and stop at a fast food joint, the options are overwhelming. It’s hard to choose what to eat in the spur of the moment as fast food is notorious for being able to hide calories in some of the most innocent looking choices on the menu. Though “healthy fast food” sounds like an oxymoron, some places can help you stay clean if you choose the right foods. Here’s list of common fast food places and what healthy ch...

Your coworkers' nationalities
(24 Jun 2009)
Some observation through my career years(i worked at 4 different corporations so far)
I am stereotyping and it's just for fun.
Italians - I've had a lot of Italians as coworkers and they are all about drama both in a good and a bad way. They are usually friendly, easy to get along with, loud and fun. You can always find them talking on the phone to their relatives, fourth cousins or step step grandma and of course their mothers. "yes, mother, i just had lunch!!" in italian.lol Although they are...

The Norcal Local Restaurant Thread
(31 May 2009)
I'm always trying to find new places to eat. Fast food isn't real food, and I tend to play out the restaurants I like.
So I thought it would be a good idea to put together a list of local restaurants that people HIGHLY recommend.
I'll keep this original post, along with 5 reserved posts to follow. There will be 6 sections:
1. South Bay
2. Peninsula
3. East Bay
4. North Bay
5. Sacramento
6. Central Valley
Depending on the load of replies, I may reorganize this to cities within each category. I WI...
