Making a curved window frame help?
(24 Jun 2009)
Did some searching here on smc and not finding this exact project.
We have a window that is close to a half circle that is about 8feet across the bottom. It's a half circle all the way around except for about the last 4 or 5 inches go vertical down to the bottom.
Thinking about building a frame that would fit inside of it w/ stained glass. It would either be one big sheet or I would add some pillars inside of it to break it up a little.
I would like to have the frame about 3/4 in thick and 3 inc...

Vintage Conn Curved - Price estimate?
(18 Apr 2009)
Hey
I'm thinking of buying an 87 xxx Conn curved soprano, and I'd like some opinions on what it's worth before I start tossing prices around with its current owner.
It's been relacquered at some point, but the job was well done. It plays as is, but could use some work. Thoughts on what I ought to offer?
Thanks.

Curved screen + projector idea. Whaddya think?
(28 Apr 2009)
Hi!
Lately I've been thinking more and more about getting a projector for sim racing. Not in the near future, perhaps, but still.. my mind tends to wander when the final exams draw near.
This is kind of what I'm envisioning:
Background. Why do I want a curved monitor?
As sim racers, we obviously want a high field of view (FOV) to keep track of other cars and to get better immersion. However, high FOV is difficult to achieve. If you're using a single monitor, increasing the FOV will give the feel...

Flat cone drivers - opinions?
(24 May 2009)
Any comments on this new Tang-Band driver:
W4-1798S
Would this be better than a curved cone shape? Tang band claims "wide dispersion performance". It's heavier than a comparable driver. I noticed B&W only used a flat cone on the midrange so maybe not a good choice for a ful range design.

Considering selling my Exports - need opinions please
(18 Jun 2009)
I'm considering selling my kit for financial reasons and am wondering if I would get more by selling it as a full kit or parting it out (or any combination thereof)... I'm not attempting to violate the no selling rule, just want to know what kind of luck people have had selling theirs on ebay or to dealers, etc.
What do you think?
Here's what I have:
Zildjian A cymbals:
Hats - 14" New Beats
18" China High
10" Extra Thin Splash
15" Thin Crash
17" Thin Crash
19" Thin Crash
21" Rock Ride

I got my quote from Dr Cerpa and Dr Gongora...need opinions
(30 May 2009)
I got Quote: s from both Doctor s...I will post them below...
Thank you for your email, picture s and interest. I see in your
pictures that you have a little skin laxity in your abdomen but I
don't think you necessarily need a tummy tuck to get a flat abdomen.
If I do a very good tumescent lipo suction of your upper and lower
abdomen, I think you can get enough skin retraction to avoid the scar ,
pain, and recovery time you sacrifice with tummmy tuck.
I can also do the liposuction of your waist...

Opinions...Stack/Stacks
(07 May 2009)
Hey everyone,
So I'm throwing around the idea of stack(s) for my truck since I never got around to it on the dually. For the trucks I have seen around here (pickups) that have stacks its dual curved in the front corners. If I do do stack(s) I want it to be a different cut, and either run duals or a single. I have an old Aussie style kickin' around my place so I took some pictures with it in my box.
If I run duals, I will go with Aussie Cut, angled out towards the sides/back in the corners of the...

Exerpt.I would love some opinions.
(29 Apr 2009)
I have been working on this for quite a while actually, and I have about 285 pages to show for it. The people I have shown it too all seem to enjoy it and want to read more, but since they are friends I always feel that they are obligated to make me feel better. I just wanted to know some stranger's opinions.
He sat in the darkness of his room, only a stub of a dully glowing candle melted to his desk and a blank piece of yellow paper before him. A low rumble broke the silence of the quiet tower...

New to all of this - opinions please
(23 May 2009)
Hi all,
I would like to start off by apologising for breaking the rules. I know that I should critique other peoples work before posting any of my own, but I don't feel comfortable judging others when I'm not even sure of myself. I've got to admit that after reading through quite a few posts, I don't really know if I'm up to scratch.
I've had a storyline for a novel bouncing around inside my head for more years than I care to remember. I thought it was about time I attempted putting pen to pap...
