What's your opinion on Greek system vs. GDI? I'm thinking about it and I'm not sure whether I want to join or not.

Ancient Greek Color Vision
(25 Apr 2009)
M. Marmot:
Just a quick post to demonstrate at least one difference between todays visual arts and those of Ancient Greece and the attendant difficulty with tracing a direct artistic lineage:-)

UT Austin Greek Life
(12 May 2009)
I am thinking about attending UT Austin sometime. I know there is a lot of various organizations there, but greek life still remains big. I want to be apart of the greek system in life, however I am half hispanic that looks full, im not ashamed of my race at all, but i know greek life is mostly made up of whites. i know other universies in texas have minorities in them, for example at texas tech being a huge greek school as well and located in west texas, have minorities in all the big greek fra...

Greek or Latin
(02 Jul 2009)
I'm thinking about taking a Classical language next semester. Unfortunately, my school only offers Classical Latin and Homeric Greek, while I am more interested in the Koine Greek and late Imperial/Medieval Latin. So my question to the experts here is, how much did these language evolve? Is learning Homeric Greek a good enough start for Koine/Byzantine or would I be wasting my time? And is learning Cicero going to help me read anything after 300 A.D? Thanks for any input. David Walker

Greek Cavalry
(30 Jun 2009)
I'm thinking about re-working some of the Greek cavalry units because the current line-up is somewhat unrealistic. The current line-up is:
(1) Militia Cavalry (armed with javelins and short spear).
(2) Light Cavalry (armed with lance and sword).
(3) Heavy Cavalry / Cataphracts (armed with lance and sword).
(4) Armoured Cavalry / Hetairoi (armed with lance and sword).
Militia cavalry (1) are unrealistic in that their equipment is too cheap. Light cavalry (2) are unrealistic in that the Greeks did...

What do you guys think about this game idea???
(28 May 2009)
A game based around the greek mythology times. It starts out with you making your character, chosing what he or she looks like, just like oblivion, and you start the game out as an unknown hero born from a god, and you do small quest and they get larger as your rep goes up. I think this game would be perfect for the PS3, what do you guys think?

Tell me what you think about the Gem!
(26 Jun 2009)
We've booked a 3 week cruise for next fall on the Gem. I'm not seeing many comments lately about this ship. Tell me what you liked (or didn't like). I don't think she normally cruises the Greek Isles - that's our first week, then the coasts of Spain and Portugal before heading to NYC. It should be 21 days of bliss!
We currently have a BA balcony, mid-ship. Good location? What about the itinerary? Restaurants? Shows? Staff?
Thanks for your comments.

Thinking about going back to school
(26 Jun 2009)
I've had this desire lately about going to college. But I'm really not fond of the idea of having to take all of those core classes. There also isn't a particular career that I want to get into. I really want to study the bible in depth and learn more about Greek and Hebrew and Jesus' time. I just want to learn all I can about the bible and living a Christian life, so that God can use me and my knowledge for His glory. I feel like I need something where I will HAVE to study and learn it. That's...
