Tube failures - better quality tubes?

We were about 50 miles into a 70 mile ride Saturday when the front tire on our Burley abruptly deflated. We were waiting at a stop sign when it happened, so it was no big deal - we just dismounted and walked the bike across the intersection. However, earlier in the ride we had done some fairly fast descents, so the spontaneous nature of this failure was more than a little unnerving.
The tube had developed a small split on the rim side. The rim tape is good, and the tube was only a few months old...

The first two include fins and rod holders, all are under $150 so the price is right...the Nav 6 looks awfully nice, especially with the fins and rod holder included, but also the most expensive at $149. I'm a pretty big guy at 250-ish so being able to keep me from sinking is an issue lol. They are all rated at 350 lbs, but I'm sure some are more buoyant or rigid than others, so any input...

Thinking about building a SET amp - suggestions?

Hi all! New here. I just finished a DIY active crossover (sorry for the cross-forum link, but that's where I've been hanging out), and have on the way some Klipsch Heresys (1981) that I plan to drive with active crossover + tube (presumably SET) amp, as the initial experiment in this sort of thing.
Anyone here with experience in building these SET beasts? I don't even know where to start, though I do have a few other knowledgable contacts. But I'm looking for opinions and recommendations, and in...

Tube Questions (New to tubes)

Got a couple of questions for you. I have a Yaqin MC-10L integrated tube amp that I want to roll tubes on. Questions:
Is there any reason to set up bias at the top of the accepted range for the tube (EL-34)? My bias is supposed to be set between 0.35 v to 0.40 v. What is the best/accepted setting? What are the pros and cons of the setting ranges?
My preamp section says 6N1 and 6H1n for the preamp tubes. I can't find tubes with that model number. Is there a common model of tube I don't know about...

Tube mic + Tube mic pre

I've been thinking about this a lot.. Is it bad practice to run a tube mic into a tube pre? Is there such thing as too much 'tube' sound? In my classes I usually like to use the Avalon pre we have for vocals because, and when I use that I typically go with the U87, and I have yet to run the Rode K2 we have through the Avalon to see how it sounds.

Okay, so on the controversial Tiller that got tossed in the bin, here is the front end. i was told its a tiller front end.
someone told me its Busa tubes cuz tillers didnt come in gold.
im no tiller expert - so whats the fuckin deal? Busa or Tiller..?
i was also told about tiller triples not having offset ingnitions loops - but they did have offset steering stops, so what the fuck??

Yaqin MS-12B Tube Preamp Opinions

I am a newbie as far as tube amps are concerned. I've read the other threads on this preamp, but am looking for any fresh opinions on whether or not to purchase this preamp. From what I've read, it seems that you can reap the majority of the benefit of tubes by running a preamp or buffer into a SS receiver. I need the modern features of my main "solid state" receiver for tv purposes. If I did go with a dedicated tube "integrated amp", then I would have to set up a system dedicated to just that p...

Which tube fenders to choose? Opinions Wanted

So ive decided I want to put tube fenders on my jeep in roughly 2 months, and ive been eyeing down these two but can't decide.
