Friedman on Legalizing Drugs
(04 Jun 2009)
Milton Friedman Nobel Laureate speaks out on why drugs should be legalized. It's good to hear the opinion from someone who is not an advocate but a voice of reason. He puts forth a compelling and well worded argument.

Chabad rabbi: Jews should kill Arab men, women and children during war
By Nathaniel Popper, The Forward
Tags: Israel News, Chabad
Like the best Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis, Manis Friedman has won the hearts of many unaffiliated Jews with his charismatic talks about love and God; it was Friedman who helped lead Bob Dylan into a relationship with Chabad.
But Friedman, who today travels the country as a Chabad speaker, showed a less warm and cuddly side when he was asked how he thinks Jews should treat...

Invent, Invent, Invent
By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
Published: June 27, 2009
I was at a conference in St. Petersburg, Russia, a few weeks ago and interviewed Craig Barrett, the former chairman of Intel, about how America should get out of its current economic crisis. His first proposal was this: Any American kid who wants to get a driver's license has to finish high school. No diploma — no license. Hey, why would we want to put a kid who can barely add, read or write behind the wheel of a car?
Now what...

You all should be REALLY proud of me
(17 Jun 2009)
There was tomato on the premade chicken wrap I got from the cafeteria, and I apparently didn't get it all out ... I ate some of it.
I didn't throw up or anything.
(for the runners who just came here ... this will tell you what I think about tomatoes)
"I was already in the hurt locker. I was in the pain cave and I had dropped the flashlight, so it was pretty dark at that point." -- Michael Friedman (Slipstream-Chipotle), describing his condition when Gilbert blew past him 173 km (107 miles) into...

Capitalism vs. Communism
(13 Jun 2009)
So being interested in political philosophy, I would like some opinions on which people think is the better economic/moral system. I used the title as a draw but feel free to mention/advocate other systems or variations. I would like to keep the tone of conversation civil, as I have known these discussions to degrade into "Capitalist pig! Communist fearmonger!" type arguments before. So that's it, I just want some opinions (albeit well supported opinions) from other people who come from differen...

WHEN we met, he had already served 7 years of a 13-years-to-life sentence for murder. He was once a drug dealer and had shot and killed another dealer on a miserable spring morning in a little northern Ontario town.

My M*A*S*H reboot
(28 May 2009)
My daughter and I were talking about MASH recently, and we started riffing about how cool a remake would be. So we started thinking about who would play what character....
HAWKEYE: Dane Cook or Vince Vaughn - they would both have to tone it DOWN a bit - a cross between Hawkeye and themselves (both of them essentially are the same guy in every movie they do).
Lt Col HENRY BLAKE: Will Ferrell
TRAPPER: Matthew McConaughey
RADAR: Johnny Galecki
FRANK BURNS: Steve Carrell
Father Mulcahey: Luke Wilson...

Is Facebook To Irans Moderate Revolution What The Mosque Was To Irans Islamic...
(18 Jun 2009)
I was trawling through the blogosphere and came across two differing angles on the Iranian election.
The first from Thomas Friedman suggests social media is being used as a platform for secularists, a legitimate
application of civil society for democratic change and another from a blogger suggesting that the
application of twitter by non-bonafide Iranians could be behind the activism.

Are ethics objective?
(07 May 2009)
Hello everyone. I am new here and will hopefully be posting regularly. Just a little background information. I am a psychology major and a philosophy minor. My interests in philosophy are mostly centered on epistemology and ethics. Consequently my interests in psychology deal mostly with cognition and ethical development. I am agnostic and would classify myself as libertarian at the moment, but I am still forming my political opinions.
However, the question I wanted to ask is: In your opinion ar...
