Is G5 as fast as Core Duo?
(17 May 2009)
Well, as I reported in another post , I went to the Apple store to see how much it would cost to repair my Macbook Pro and they told me that it would cost almost $700.
Since I don't have that money I decided to sell it instead and sold it for $430. Aside from the video card issue the Macbook Pro was fast for me. Since I sold it I decided to look for something else instead. I sold my iPod touch and so now my budget is almost $600.
On eBay they have Powermac G5 (dual 2.0GHz) with 2GB of RAM. My Ma...

Upgrading from Core 2 Duo to Core 2 Quad
(27 Apr 2009)
Well I'm wondering, is it ultimately worth it? My current CPU is a Core 2 Duo E6850 clocked to 3.5GHz and I'm thinking about changing over to a Core 2 Quad Q9650. Is it worth it for games? I'm currently running Windows XP 32, but am planning to go to Windows 7 64-bit. Games run well on my system as it is but would changing out to a quad core net me a truly better result? I also want to get better RAM, maybe the better DDR2-1066 for it. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 or P8600?
(30 Apr 2009)
I am thinking about getting a laptop(customizing). For the CPU I can't decide between a "Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T6400 (2.00GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)" or a "Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (2.40GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3MB cache)". The best video card I can get for this laptop would be a 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450. Would I see a difference between the T6400 and P8600 even with that video card? Should I go for the lesser T6400 and save the money if the ATI video card would be the bottleneck?

AMD Phenom II x4 955 or Intel Core 2 Duo E8600
(09 Jun 2009)
Hi guys, i've been reading a lot of mixed opinions on which CPU is better. Im looking to build a pc basically for 3d modeling and rendering, i'm a graphic designer so there will definetly be a lot of multi-tasking involved. I do some gaming but it wouldn't be of prime concern. Im either wanting to buy the 955 or the E8600 but like i said i can't make up my mind. Also if anyone can give me some input on which mobo is nice. (First time building)
Thanks!.

ASUS P5B-E and Core 2 Duo E7600
(03 Jun 2009)
Has anyone tried this combination and does it work without any problems? That seems like a nice upgrade for me, see specs in sig, so I'm thinking about buying one. I don't want to upgrade anything else, just the CPU and BIOS of course.

The new iMac: How long can Apple hold off on the Quad Core i7?
(17 May 2009)
I'm wondering what Apple is thinking by not including the Bloomfield Core i7 in the new iMac. With the 2.66 Ghz version being over twice as fast (with the right software) as their 3 Ghz Core 2 Duo, they face stiff competition from the PC world where this inexpensive chip is becoming standard. I've got a couple theories, but wonder what the people here think.
1. Apple needs to have some substantial performance difference between their iMac and the Mac Pro (which uses 4 core processors). Until the...
