Macedonia: Albanian Group Seek Federalization
(11 Jun 2009)
A group of right-wing ethnic Albanian politicians during a Wednesday press conference demanded the federalization of Macedonia based on the Swiss and Belgian models.
The group, headed by Hisni Shakiri, Sefedin Haruni, Bardulj Mahmuti and Nevzat Halili from the Ilirida movement, is not advocating renewed armed conflict with the state, but urging constitutional changes that would allow ethnic Albanians, who comprise one-quarter of the country's population, equal rights.
The group is not part of...

CAN v. JAM - Vancouver July 3 *CONFIMED @ ABRUZZO*
(01 Jul 2009)
Me and Nolando are thinking about Cafe Abruzzo 4:30PM PST time. Post up if anyone else is in and I'll head over with a Vs scarf to make sure they can accomodate us. I'm still a bit sore they stuck me for a tenner to watch England Macedonia about 8 years ago, but there was a really good atmosphere in there for Olympic qualifying. If beer is important, let me know and I will try the Portuguese Club instead.
Cafe Abruzzo is located at 1321 Commercial, which is just off Charles Street.

What would you do?
(25 Jun 2009)
I was invited to a wedding, but I can't attend since I'll be in Macedonia. The person that invited me is someone I used to do research with while I was in college (we worked in the same lab, she was the graduate student who helped me with my projects and vice versa). Although we're good friends, we're not super buddy buddy -- we still stay in touch, try to get together for drinks, etc.
So since I can't attend the wedding, I was thinking about sending just a card thanking her for the invitation a...

If the United States was a person, and it had a family tree
(29 May 2009)
Okay, so, during my last school Final, I was bored and thought how Great Britain is roughly considered the "Mother country" of America (Since we were founded by it).
Then I thought, what if the world was like a family, what would the tree look like?
So I got to work. Tracing out liniage from Empires etc. Here is what I got. From Top (grandparents) to US 'children'
Feel free to question my logic of linieage and gender affiliations, I thought this out thouroughly. And offer any suggestions (As som...
