Synchromesh blowing trannies?
(24 Jun 2009)
I'm just curious if anyone has ever thought of this. Since i sold my probe i've been driving a Mustang with a T-5 tranny. And Synchromesh is known to lead to failures in these transmissions. I think it annihilates the blocker rings essentially blowing the tranny compeltely. And looking back i ran it in both my PGT Tranny's that "blew" for no reason. My last one i took extreme care of and it even failed. When i installed the new transmission before i sold the car i put full synthetic gear oil, an...

A/C blowing cold but stopping after a very short while
(15 May 2009)
Hi everyone,
Wondering what happened with my '98 tercel.
Initiall, say 2 years ago, it would work, blow cold air for anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours and then shut itself down (A/C light blinking). Switching on an off would eventually make it restart for good.
This time period (30 minutes) has gradually faded to nothing.
Now, whenever I start my A/C it will almost instantly start blinking. For some reason, it seems to run longer when it is cold/winter.
I had it checked by a cheap mechanic...

Blowing your own trumpet
(22 Apr 2009)
To fulfil the prediction I made to myself 3 seconds ago that RAWK will eat itself, this is a simple topic. Simply post your favourite post that you have made to RAWK, why you like it and a little context if required. It can be from any of the boards, on any topic - only limitation is that you have to have posted it yourself.
Mine changes every time I think about it, but given that Mr Ferguson has lightened the mood so successfully, I'll plump for some whimsy (and resist the temptation to attempt...

On Friday night, when the senior class was waiting to graduate, excitement began to grow. Students bounced a large inflatable rubber duck. The...

Blowing the budget: Building a system around the Nuforce 7 channel amp.
(24 Jun 2009)
*this first post will be modified to accommodate fellow forumers suggestions*
Hi All,
Well, the wife said that 'I may as well get it out of my system'. I think she was fed up of me asking about room treatment, and soundproofing the 6 surfaces of the living room. Seeing as I'm doing all this stuff why not get the system I've always wanted?
So suddenly my HT budget has increased Actually I'm not sure how much to spend... say $12-15000 or $20, 000 I guess
Forgot to minus Proj and screen ($6000) the...

"What do you do in pp to prevent blowing whites?"
(10 Jun 2009)
I have been trying to edit using a lesser noiseware settings (from Anne's custom setting) so that I am not getting that overdone look. But with C's shirt being a bright white it is close to being blown. What sort of steps do I do to prevent it? The ones I have taken are make sure that the SOOC is not overexposed, I have moved the slider in levels to where the histogram is and also the white slider below it in a bit but I am not sure if it is still too bright. Now for my other self cc I know I ch...

Help!, oil blowing out, rings?
(27 May 2009)
Hello all.
I have a '98 650 with 9000 miles on it.
I am always fiddling with it and recently got some help here with jetting.
I mention that in case me leaning out the carb may have contributed to over heating. I have not seen any real indicators of overheating unless oil blowing out of the valve cover gasket and crankcase vent means what I think it might, rings? and rings die from overheating?
Before I go tearing into the bike I would like to get an idea of what is involved from those that know...
