Thinking about moving

Hello,
I have an opportunity in my career to pick from a few different regions, and cities to move to. Currently, I have narrowed it down to D.C., Texas, Georgia, and Washington State. I know, I know those are all so different, but that's what I'm looking for, a change.
I was hoping that people would just share personal opinions, feelings, likes and dislikes about the DC area. I have kids so I am also interested in the most kid friendly neighborhoods, schools, crime, etc. Really, anything would...

Mt. Washington Hillclimb - drivetrain advice needed

I need to change my drive train for the Mt. Washington Hillclimb. I have a 30 tooth ring in the front and I'm getting either a 9 speed Shimano Deore SLX or an XT (11-32) in the back (opinions on what I should get are welcome!). I also have a Shimano 105 derailleur.
I'm wondering what the most compatible Shimano chain would be? I've seen a wide range of chains and don't understand what the numbers mean i.e. I have a Shimano HG-93 9sp chain, how is this different from an HG-73? I see the Shimano C...

Hours ago (Saturday, May 23) a woman in her 20’s was raped in a Washington park in front of hundreds of witnesses, and nobody stepped forward to try and stop it from happening.

What do you think about political parties?

I personally do not like any political parties. They are all corrupt in their own rights. I personally like GeargeWashingtons view on political parties. He basically sums up what is happening to america right now. How everybody in washington is corrupt, YES EVEN OBAMA. Coservstives, liberals,republicans, and democrats i think we should do away with all the political parties and instill a true people's government.

Bush and Cheney's reign were the good ol' days, relative to Obama's threat to start confiscation of our military style rifles. You could criticise government with less fear of a police raid on your house.

My wife and I are thinking about moving from Washington State over to Florida or Colorado. I worked for the Washington State DOC as a Corrections Officer for almost 7 years. I have done Minimum, Medium, and Maximum units as well as our Emergency Response Team. Would I need to go to the Academy? What is the pay range a veteran CO would expect? What Union covers FDOC and CDOC? Is there a high level of staff assaults or any stab vest requirement like California? What kind of retirement do you have?...

So, I'm going off to Marquette in the fall and my parents want to have a last little family long weekend before I leave home. They asked me where I wanted to go for a 3-4 day getaway and I've narrowed it down to two places I would like to go that I've never been.
Washington D.C or New York City
