1. What Do You Think About The Level Of Censorship We're Faced With In Television...   (02 Jun 2009)
So I was looking around for a few Snuffy clips recently, and I came across this: A woman explains the breast-feeding process to Big Bird while she's breast-feeding. At first I thought, "Wow, that's cool. It's really informative, but it's put in a language where kids can understand it. Also, you've got Big Bird there. What's not to love about Big Bird?" Then I thought "...Okay, if this is on now, I wanna see the resulting media covered flame war." It's surprising to look back and see something li...

2. Censorship: How far should it go?   (29 May 2009)
Now, just to clarify, I realize that there have been several other censorship threads. These, however, did not have very elaborate OPs and did not give enough of a base of opinions for good, healthy debate to start. I'd like to go more into detail and throw out some ideas that I think can cause some good discussions. Censorship , as we all know, is to suppress speech or information that is considered to be dangerous or offensive. I would like to make it clear right now that there are certain for...

3. Here's my .2 cents. Think about it, Management   (28 Apr 2009)
I have watched from a distance the ongoing battle to *regain" Truck.Net. I have kept quiet, with minor exception and I figure now is as good a time as any to hit the fan with it. Let me think back a few years to when I lurked here. There were many, many posters...yeah, sure..the Wild West..I saw the other thread. But the truth is, it was a forum where we could come and discuss trucking stuff, gripe about trips, loads, roads, trucks and stoopit stuff. With a lot of humor thrown in. Zigzag, as big...

4. theme parks and photo censorship   (18 May 2009)
i just started thinking about something that happend a couple months ago at sea world and i thought i would post it. my friends and i were on the journey to atlantis ride and when we get to the last part of it where you go straight down and the camera takes your picture we thought it would be funny to give the camera the finger. after the ride we go to buy the picture and the guy told us he deleted it and that we can't do that because it's a family park. that's when i got a little mad, what righ...

5. Australian government trials online content censorship   (27 Jun 2009)
Australian government trials online content censorship Quote: : The Australian government could enforce its age classification laws on downloadable and flash-based web games if a current web censorship trial proves successful. Implementation could have severe consequences for games such as World of Warcraft and Second Life, which currently remain unclassified in the country due to their online nature, as well as user-generated content deemed unacceptable. Speaking to TheAge.com , internet filter...

6. Censorship Good or Bad?   (01 Jun 2009)
(note, since there was not a topic about this within the first 2 pages, I made my own) Definition of Censorship: Quote: : the act or practice of censoring. urban Quote: : 1. What lazy parents use as an excuse to not want to teach their children what is and isn't acceptable to view. Proven to be useless because all it does is make the children even more curious as to why it is censored. 2. What the government uses to keep the dumb masses from finding out the truth about its corruption and incompe...

7. iPhone ''Baby Shaker'' debate raises covert censorship issue   (24 Apr 2009)
The Apple App Store for iPhones has again become the centre of a media controversy, this time over an app entitled Baby Shaker , whose removal from sale highlights a number of issues at the heart of the censorship question. The Baby Shaker debate is of supreme relevance to gaming because the flow of arguments in both directions are in many ways directly analogous to those surrounding banned games. Substitute "shaking" for shooting, "baby" for "human being", and "iPhone app" for "video game", and...

8. Thanks for the Censorship....But Kane Johnson was crap!   (10 Jun 2009)
Now that they are heavily censoring threads (or manipulating opinion)...in particular, The thread "Kane Johnson has announced his retirement" with Quote: s like these (peejay) "Negative posts about Kane Johnson on this thread from hereon will be red carded. You have been warned". The thread title makes no reference to the poster having to praise Johnson or if in posting in this thread, you have to pump up the average career of Johnson at the RFC. The title is "Kane Johnson has announced his reti...

9. Censorship on NSC   (16 May 2009)
Prompted by the "NSFW Friday Filth" thread, and no doubt this has been debated before, but I guess a lot of younger kids read and post on NSC. You might say that their parents could put net nannies on their PCs but I think its the responsibilty of all of us (and not just the mods) to think about that when we post. The same goes for strong swear words, particularly in thread titles. I'm also a member of EnglandFans and on there there is an automatic deleter of swear words (its not that sophistica...

10. Internet Censorship and Chinese Geeks   (24 Jun 2009)
A two-prong thread fellow Mo' Fo's 1. Opinions on Internet Censorship, and the potential for "Free Speech" on the internet. 2. A News related Issue about the forthcoming Green Dam security in China. So. Point 1. Where does Free Speech on the internet end? At one point does protection from the likes of Child Pornography, Far Right Nazi-ism and the like bleed into the legitimate access of less popular opinions? Should it be illegal to find out how to make a bomb? Should the state be able to monito...
