Can someone define what American Idol means? It seems there is a wide range in defining the perfect American Idol. When you think about it, really think about it, how do we measure who really should win? Looks, Personality, Age, Singing Ability? I think they are looking for a age demographic, and popularity. Somewhere between 18- 23. We are all of different ages here at these boards, who do we look for and what and why?

I know this is a silly request, but we all know that American Idol is rearing it's head again, and they have listed Dallas as an audition state, for the end week of July or the first week of August.

What American Idol as in common with other reality shows

I think it's funny how on the last three reality shows, Dancing With The Stars, American Idol and now Britan Has Talent, that all these shows had the judges pimping and going on TV shows to promote who they wanted as winners to win (Gilles from DWTS, Adam from AI and Susan Boyle from BHT) that all these so called way out in front winners all came in second. So I got this email today, that American Idol would be having auditions near me next week. I've been singing a long time. In gospels quartets, to bands, to solo. I can sing harmony as well. I've been doing the original rock band thing for 6 years now so I've got experience. Every time I think about how Kris won, my stomach drops and I actually go through a state of ephemeral depression. I legitimately get angry, even though I have NEVER cared one way or another about the outcome of ANY reality show in the past including past seasons of American Idol. For those who dont know, Adam Lambert is a BEAST. EVERY performance he gave was amazing, and he was the contestant I looked forward to seeing every night.
The reason for his loss MUST have been beside a popularity diff...
