1. Thinking about scrapping my idea of writing a custom membership and roles...   (20 Apr 2009)
I've got a web app I'm building in ASP.NET that has the following security requirements: Must be able to integrate with a master authentication scheme that passes back a unique key to the application to indicate a user has logged in via a third-party site. Must be able to use existing user/roles tables. May use forms authentication and allow users to log in via a separate login page if they aren't members of the third-party site. I've tried customizing the SQL Role and Membership Providers, but...

2. who thinks about cyber security?   (31 May 2009)
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/30/us...ml?ref=science The above article, yet another in a long line of "cyber-security." I read it, but do not have anything substantial to say. I think this is because I have not reached any conclusions. I have not reached any opionion, becaues I don't feel that I know enough about the topic. I do wonder though, about our bandwidth pricing here in the United States. I do think about surrvalience. I do get the feeling that the internets are being throttled some ho...

3. Thinking about bashing nFusion. Read this first.   (26 Jun 2009)
nFusion made a business decision. I don`t like it at all, but it was their decision and we knew it was coming when the security chip was first introduced. Bad timing is all they are really guilty of. The nFusion bashing has to stop. I too am a little guilty of this as of late. I apologies for that. But lets get over this and carry on. No more bashing will be tolerated. Sorry guys and gals. We can certainly post some disappointment but lets think about the words and opinions we use first. Thnx an...

4. Rural/Metro Corporation Security - Thoughts/Opinions?   (27 Apr 2009)
I did a search and did not find opinions/thoughts on this company. Anyone ever work for Rural/Metro Corporation ( http://ruralmetro.com/index.asp ) as a Security Officer or know anything about them? I remember when I was working at the mall, 2 of their officers (a Sgt and an officer) came to apply to us. Just trying to gather information. Thanks!

5. Security Suggestions   (29 Apr 2009)
I have been encouraging my company to switch too Joomla having used it in my previous job and having had a lot of success with it. I'm a huge fan of Joomla's power and ease of use. Our company is now thinking about making the switch to Joomla but I want to make sure that it make sense for us from a security perspective. My background is web design and I know very little about programming, IT or web security. The other IT people we have in our company know very little about web security as it rel...

6. Security Or Flexibility?   (15 Apr 2009)
Hi. If microsoft asked you, do you prefer security over the flexibility or flexibility over the security? what your answer will be? I think that Vista failure is based on this issue. In the time that many of users asked for more security, Microsoft did the biggest fault in its history by producing Vista in this way. they throw the flexibility away to give more security. Every body know that microsoft windows systems got their popularity from their flexibility. Although, Some people think that Mi...

7. External POST/GET to J! site? Security Risk?   (11 May 2009)
Hi there, I'm thinking of building a custom component that will do a POST or GET to a separate J! site. I plan to implement a hash/security code check to validate the request, but is there anything else I need to think about? Also, I've not been successful in doing my typical call to the external program. It gives an Apache/PHP level Authorization error. Code: $params = array('http' => array(               'method' => 'GET',               'header'=>                   "Accept-language: e...

8. What do you think about the economy?   (29 Apr 2009)
As you post your complaints try to add a solution fix. Keep it simple and to the point if you can.. My complaint is for the fact that Capitalism is being corrupted because of the lack of respect by greedy power hungry individuals.. Free trade has failed. Border security has failed. the Ameican dream is for the few.. Solution, tariffs on free trade! reduce " sales taxation " and regulate greed ! Those three concepts can work wonders. Those three concepts are long over due.

9. noobish questions about Debian's security   (14 Jun 2009)
hi. I'm using Linux from few years (from 2-3 years as my primary or the only operating system), for most of time I used Debian or Debian-based distribution (Ubuntu). I use it on my desktop, I do not administrate any server etc. I've been reading recently about linux security, and I have got some question (some of them probably are stupid, some aren't): 1. why debians packages arent compilled with --fstack-protector-all ( former Smashing Stack Protector)? i searched some 'rules' files within sour...

10. Dueling Banjos: Obama and Cheney on National Security   (21 May 2009)
Yesterday, 05:10 AM http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22748.html Quote: : President Barack Obama will attempt to regain control of a boiling debate over anti-terrorism policy with a major speech on Thursday — an address that comes on the same day that former Vice President Dick Cheney will be weighing in with his own speech on the same theme. The dueling speeches amount to the most direct engagement so far between Obama and his conservative critics in the volatile argument over what tact...
