Help!! Animation Computer Configuration

I'm building a computer for my fiance, she is an animation student in college and uses Maya, Flash, and Photoshop and needs a faster system.
I am thinking about building a computer on the Intel i7 platform, but need some help picking components. I've built many computers for general use and for gaming, but never one designed for animation.
What components deserve attention concerning animation work? Does she need more memory, fast hard drives, a large cpu, powerful gpu, a mix of these, or all of...

New M96 Owner - need opinions on rifle configuration

Just got into collecting, so this is my first post on the forums. I just picked up a 1900 Carl Gustaf m96 with a few perculiar niggles that have me a bit uneasy. I wasn't familiar with swedish mausers at all at time of purchase, but the dirt-cheap price and a very shootable bore made me take the plunge.
Now as you can see, the bolt is bent, and not in a military fashion.
And the receiver was tapped for what I can only guess was a diopter sight.

Should DLLs have their own configuration files?

Apologies if this is a duplicate, but I've not managed to find this question being asked directly.
The general opinion here (that's me and him across from me) is that they shouldn't, the reason being that DLLs can be shared; therefore the idea of having application-specific information in a DLL is nonsense. If the information is not application-specific, then constants can be used.
A further question is, assuming that DLLs do not have their own config file, whether DLLs should use the configurat...

I'm going to be replacing an older D-Link Wireless-G router this week with the new dual-band Airport Extreme (don't try and talk me out of it...I have $85 in Best Buy gift cards to burn)

Well I just bought a new sub that i didnt think i would be doing..
I sold my RL-p with a powerbass amp and now have a FI Q 18'' comming to me
My alt got ****ed up couple weeks ago and didnt EVEN ****ing think about gettin an upgraded alt for the truck.. ITS ONLY 70 amp..
now the Q will need 1000 watts just like my old setup.
I had minor light dimage..
WILL THE BIG 3 help with this.... or is the 70 amp alt just not big enough?

I've decided on the 2.5ghz but there's a lot of opinions on which Hard Drive to order with it.
# 250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
# 320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
# 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
# 128GB solid-state drive
# 256GB solid-state drive
I'd like the latest and greatest and don't feel like changing the HD myself so was me ordering the 256 ssd a good move?

Hardware Configuration for failover and stability

Recently I've been thinking about possible hardware configurations for optimal failover and stability (uptime) for an RDS solution running on Windows.
Maybe we can gather a thread here with some pointers and suggestion with the experience that all of you have with whatever project your are working on.
Princeton's autonomous car was running 5 dual-core servers, but I'm not sure if they used that to process all the sensory data or for actual failover if one of the servers fails.
