Okay guys...im a complete noob when it comes to anything Apple and the wifey is thinking of buying me a new desktop...
i hear a lot of good things about apples...main use for me will be internet browsing and heavy photo editting...
any opinions on apples in general...i've been anti-apple for a long time but have grown tired of the problems windows xp and vista have...heres the model im looking at and some stats...

So yeah. Microsoft is offering free exam vouchers for and of the MCTS exams threw their Dreamspark site. ($60 value)

Hey hows it going guys, I'm thinking about buying a MSI GX610 laptop and I would like to know others opinions on the specs, the company, the price etc etc. First of all things you should know about me. Yes, it is true, I will most likely be switching to a Macintosh Apple computer. My Vista PC has had many problems over the past several months, and it is finally making me realize that the Apple people know something that we PC users don't. They know how awesome it is not to have virus related crashes and they know how awesome it is to have a PC that rarely crashes and rarely slows down after purchase. It must be nice...I've been a lifelong PC user, and I have hated Apple, but now I am beginning...

[all variants] Opinion on Ubuntu running a virual Vista or Vista running ...

I'd like your opinions, I have been having an internal debate on what is the better route.
I am a Windows Developer at my company and use Visual Studio 2008 every day. However, I also use Ubuntu as a virtual on that machine and use it occasionally. I am reasonably happy with this.
However, I recently partitioned my work computer and created a small Linux partition. I was curious about ext4 and whether I could get everything working on my XPS 1330.

Ok, so heres the thing i have been reading about linux and want to start using it im pretty sure i want to get Ubuntu was wandering a couple of things here they are
- Can i put it on a flash drive so i can just move to computer to computer?
- What version should i get? thinking of 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) release. i dont know if its newest
- is winamp compatible or any of my hardware? and is a Logitech Mx revolution compatible?
- can i play games on it if not its ok thats what i have Vista for.

Thinking about migrating to Ubuntu, a few questions

I've played with Ubuntu and other UNIX variants on a number of occasions over the years, so I'm not a complete newbie, but I have a few questions as I am considering altering the setup of my primary PC to have Ubuntu as my primary OS.
1) Should a 19 or 20GB partition be enough for Ubuntu? I have a separate partition that I will keep my data on, FAT32 most likely (unless Ubuntu can reliably write to NTFS now) as I will still have Win2k as a backup and games OS.
I have three partitions on my 400GB...
