1. When something breaks down, do you think about fixing it or just buying a...   (13 Jun 2009)
I'm not talking about large purchases like a car, but smaller ones like a microwave, TV, computer, household appliances, etc. Or are you like a lot of friends I have who see a broken appliance as an excuse to go out and buy all new, state-of-the-art toys? Because I've about had it with a few select friends of mine who criticize me for having an "obsolete" TV, computer, cellphone and household appliances. Sorry, had to vent a little, but I feel like the last sane person sometimes when I'm out wit...

2. Breaks MP3s vs Dubstep/DnB Vinyl   (25 Jun 2009)
Hi guys Just been thinking about breakbeat at the moment - a lot less vinyl is coming out in the shops. At the moment, I'm really liking the Gella stuff - but there's only one tune out on vinyl as far as I'm aware! Conversely, I look in the dubstep and d'n'b sections in vinyl shops are packed with new releases. Even the more 'obscure' stuff like Peverelist, Gunjack, 2562 are still getting regular release on vinyl. Why do people think this is? Do you think it's something to do with dubstep and d'...

3. Lyn Collins - Think (About It)   (07 Jun 2009)
this is basically the best song ever, and it's also one of the most-sampled. recorded in 1972; co-written, produced, featuring, and using the backing band of james brown so you know it's gonna be funky as hell AND IT IS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jiqxkdhzi_M the most famous song that sampled it is so well-known that i shouldn't even have to post it. used the bassline, drum break, and vocal sample to make the chorus. it wasn't the first song to sample it (that would be roxanne shante - go on...

4. 'new' breaks for sampling?   (04 May 2009)
the think break thread made me think about this. any suggestions on new funky music coming out (maybe the last decade or so) that has live breakbeats that are played in the same style/vibe as the old school funk breaks? i'd love to hear that feel and drum kit sound with a more crisp and clean sounding recording. and yea a ton of the appeal of using the old breaks is the distinctive sound of the recordings, but it'd be nice to have an arsenal of funky as hell breaks that are a lot cleaner with mo...

6. Diet Breaks   (05 Jun 2009)
I'm feeling like I new a break from my diet. I've been on it since February and lost 28lbs so far, but i still have 15-18lbs to go. I've feeling weak in the gym, I'm dreading doing cardio, I'm sick of having to count every morsel that goes in my mouth, sick of thinking about dieting, sick of browsing the internet about dieting... And until now, I LOVED cardio, I LOVED lifting and I LOVED feeling great from eating healthier, but right now I just am burnt out. It's affecting my moods and everythin...
