1. iPhone ''Baby Shaker'' debate raises covert censorship issue   (24 Apr 2009)
The Apple App Store for iPhones has again become the centre of a media controversy, this time over an app entitled Baby Shaker , whose removal from sale highlights a number of issues at the heart of the censorship question. The Baby Shaker debate is of supreme relevance to gaming because the flow of arguments in both directions are in many ways directly analogous to those surrounding banned games. Substitute "shaking" for shooting, "baby" for "human being", and "iPhone app" for "video game", and...

2. Racist e-mail aimed at Obama raises hackles in Tennessee   (16 Jun 2009)
Source: CNN (CNN) -- The chairman of Tennessee's Democratic Party wants a Republican legislative aide fired for sending out a "reprehensible" e-mail depicting President Obama as two cartoonish white eyes peering from a black background. Obama's image is in the last square of a collage containing portraits of the previous 43 U.S. presidents. Copies of the e-mail were posted on the Internet on Monday. Sherri Goforth, an administrative assistant to state Sen. Diane Black, R-Gallatin, has admitted s...

4. Krugman raises the issue of just how much compromi   (18 May 2009)
Krugman raises the issue of just how much compromise is too much compromise, looks at the pros and cons of that argument for the present cap and trade proposals in the House, and argues the perfect should not be the enemy of the good. Goodo. The New York Times May 18, 2009 Op-Ed Columnist The Perfect, the Good, the Planet By PAUL KRUGMAN In a way, it was easy to take stands during the Bush years: the Bushies and their allies in Congress were so determined to move the nation in the wrong directio...

5. Ever think about new poker games?   (19 Jun 2009)
Anyone ever thing about playing poker and then after think that it would be fun if they did this or that and changed this or that and made a new game of poker? I was thinking about this the other day and thought about trying this at a home game of dealers choice. The game: Holdem The differences: Your 2 holes cards have to be played along with any 3 cards on the board. Kind of like in Omaha, not really, but kind of. How this could affect the game" A player would have to hold two suited cards in...

6. Really Starting to think about Auto Tranny Software   (20 Jun 2009)
All I'm looking to do is remove the automatic upshifting feature in manual mode, so I can better control which gear I'm in while autocrossing. I don't care about a higher redline. As far as I can tell, Dinan has the only solution, and they won't install it unless you do engine software as well. I'm guessing the the tranny software raises the shiftpoint past the BMW-intended redline, so if you installed it without doing the engine software, it would peg out in D or SD before it could upshift, whi...

7. WOLF: L.A.-based soccer radio host's opinion raises Liverpool f...   (12 May 2009)
Cohens commetns are inaccurate, offensive and deeply hurtful to those affected by Hillsborough. Fans are in uproar over the fact that he continuously remarks that fans have 'shared responsibility' when government inquiries (who would normally like nothing more than to blame fans) have said this is not the case. In the UK the media have finally opened their eyes and are starting to report on the truths of that horrendous day. It seems as if some low level shock-jock in the US has seen a window to...

8. Thinking about succumbing to the addiction and buying a SECOND bike...   (14 May 2009)
Now don't get me wrong...I love the R1. It's quite comfortable when I'm doing spirited riding...shifting on the bike, diving into corners, etc. Problem is, sitting sedately on that bike and cruising around in traffic gets old very quickly. The gearing is awful tall, so anything under 30 is hard to tolerate, especially when that undertail exhaust starts heating up in the summer. A lot of my friends talk about taking trips to Skyline Drive and such, and I can just imagine being stuck behind a "Win...
