1. MSSQL: Timestamp error when there is no timestamp?   (05 May 2009)
So I'll start off by saying that I'm pretty bad with MSSQL. I'm working hard to get through it, but it's kind of by braille. I'm trying to write an application that will insert a few rows into an already existing database (used by our shipping application). Unfortunately, I'm stuck on this error that seems to make no sense in the context it is given. Here is my query: SQL Code: INSERT   INTO ShipmentCommodities       (        RowVersion      , ShipmentID      , Description      , Quantity      ,...

2. Selling Windows shared hosting under Reseller Hosting -   (21 Jun 2009)
I am currently selling linux shared hostings only under linux reseller hostings. Many customers ask Windows hosting, too. So I am thinking to sell Windows shared hosting under Windows reseller hostings, too. But I have no any knowledge about Windows solutions(ASP, ASP.net, AJAX, MSSQL, MS Access, Tomcat, ODBC). Can I do it? Can you share your experiences and opinions. Thank you.

3. Is Access right for my project?   (28 Apr 2009)
Hello all. I have a new project to build and it's significantly bigger than my other ones. It's replacing an old VB program so we were thinking of developing in the new VB.net environment, but I'm finding making the switch from VBA to full VB a lot tougher than I had anticipated. So it's gotten me thinking about trying in Access, but I was wondering if I was barking up the wrong tree. The program is going to have it's own database (currently about 800MB from 5 years of use, though there will be...

4. IT guy picking up programming - C#, Python, or Ruby   (26 Jun 2009)
Hi There (this turned out kinda long but i appreciate you reading), I've been in IT for about 10 yrs. I've had exposure in everything from rolling out server environments, to routing, to security. I've worked quite a bit with web servers and have been exposed to the superficial structure of things like asp.net, css, html, xml, php, mysql, mssql etc. With that said, I'm comfortable in those environments, but i've never gotten into the programming side of things - well i've done a couple databases...

5. SQL 2000 to 2008 Upgrade failed: Message: Wait on the Database Engine recovery...   (13 Jun 2009)
This is not so much a question as it is a description of something that I encountered during an upgrade of a production SQL 2000 (sp4) server to SQL 2008 (SP1 slipstreamed) I'd already practiced this upgrade a couple of times with VM's that I thought were identical to the production box. But it turns out there was one MINOR difference that was enough to break the upgrade completely and leave the MSSQL Service in an unstartable state. I want to post what i learned here for someone who might have...

6. Is it my time to quit?   (13 May 2009)
Hey guys. Some of you have seen my posts in the PHP and the .NET forums over the past couple of years and now I have a question I'd like to ask you for your opinion on. I started in 1991 with Borland C++ / OWL and Paradox db. From there I moved to VB and Access. After that, I learned Delphi and MSSQL. Later I learned ASP, DCOM, MTS and all the stuff that came with VS6. Then in 2000, I lost my last official job. I've been solo since then, working with PHP / MySQL and a little .NET / MSSQL. So muc...

7. Cannot Print,no Cut And Paste, No View Of Minimized Files   (23 Jun 2009)
Hi Never used one of these forums before, except to look. Not sure if I am doing this right. Don't know how to insert a copy of the HiJackthis notepad since cut and paste or copy do not seem to work??? However have sent the log to TREND MICRO, so I do not know exactly what will be seen. Do not know what to do. Purchased System Mechanic Professional under the recommendation of one of the computer stores in town - however do not use the enclosed firewall or virus protection from them. Did an updat...

8. newbie: problem restoring database   (03 Jun 2009)
On Wed, 3 Jun 2009 12:59:46 +0200, "Jeff" <it_consultant1@hotmail.com.NOSPAM Hi sql server 2005 express I've taken a full database backup of a production database using the SSMSE. Now I want to restore the database on my computer so I can use the database for testing, developing new features etc... and it's better (that's my opinion) to work with copy of real data.... Okay as I said I have trouble restoring the database, I get this error when restoring using SSMSE: restore failed fo...
