Tulsa's original neighborhood activist Betsy Horowitz died on Monday. She led the charge to stop a Riverside Expressway from destrying the western part of Maple Ridge. She also was a mayoral candidate in the 1970's. I had gotten to know the Horowitz family as neighbors at Grand Lake in the 1980's, Betsy was a strong personality and was always quick with an opinion. She rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with her aggressive nature, but usually had the best interest of the community in mind....

What is an activist judge?

A few weeks ago I heard someone comment that everyone wants an activist judge, because most people have some opinion that is against the "will of the people," and activist judges are those who go against the will of the people.
Would this fit your definition of an activist judge? I think it's bull-hockey, because I think there are activist judges and I think that the will of the people shouldn't be the final word on any topic. I think that an activist judge would be someone who sets their ideals...

Ok bear with me, this will be a bit here and there... but see if you can follow the underlying issue and let me know what YOU think.
Here is a take on a possibility of reasoning at a government level in Japan vs. other nations, which I believe many might have not thought of.
