I have a 120 GB drive with two partitions; C is 14 GB and has 155 mb left
according to disk management. D is the rest of the Hard drive and has 80 GB
left free. Sony Vaio media computer, running XP Home SP3 on a P4 at 2.66mhz
(prob TMI).
Anyway, a while back I moved all photos, etc to the D drive to save space on
C drive. But, things keep "growing" (sorta like having rabbits I guess) and
now the C d...

There is no router between our domain network and the test-network, on
purpose, to emulate a home network.
We do not have a dns in our test-network because of practical problems. It
is completely isolated. The issue remains the same though: on home-networks
with dns, querying the dfs-root results in a system-hang

I don't even know how to begin this! This morning I woke up to a black screen
on my monitor that had in big letters WARNING: You have a trojan (and it said
another virus also but I can't remember its name). My McAfee was not
allowing me to run it, so I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, it did a quick
scan said everything was ok, but I still had the black warning on my monitor.
It said for me to run spywar...

Sleep vs Hybernate?

I would like someone's opinion a little more knowledgeable than mine. Is it
necessary to hibernate (save wear & tear on the computer) instead of sleep?
Saving energy is not a priority, saving my computer is. I am under the
impression that my scheduled night time backups will run in sleep but not
hibernate modes. Is this correct?

Hello all. I was using the NTBackup utility to back up (yeah, backup all on
computer); BUT, when and if I need to restore, from a external backup drive
(that I do not keep plugged into the back of my desktop tower/chassis, but
only solely when I need to add something to the external drive or whatever,
you know) It's 100GB, My tower/chassis's internal drive is: 1...

The security subsystem on your box is completely compromised, there are
6 critical Windows services and you have 3 of them that are borked! You
might get to fix this with a repair install but in my opinion you should
flatten the box and rebuild it from scratch, you won't be able to fix
the Security Subsystem when it is compromised.
If you are constantly being infected then you should take a close look
at you...
