Challenge to dispute my essential criticism on Burmese politics
(01 Jun 2009)
On Mon, 1 Jun 2009 07:37:36 -0700 (PDT), James <James.Russell.Brownwood@gmail.com
Hi BaldEagle and noname Dot At Home and other SCB readers,
I have never said to be American or not. I only have said that I am
from the West and that I am a human rights activist. My nationality
and place of dwelling are not important. My background, Christian,
human and knowing what freedom is, is. I have explained this many
times, but I can imagine that some (new) readers may have missed it.
I have never...

media handling of Iran's election is criminally complicit

Letters to the Editor
Dear sirs:
As foul as it is to engage in the reprehensible and malignant, it is just as low to be aware of them and not acknowledge it.
Any system run by crookedness and criminality inevitably relies on deceit to continue. They can never reveal the truth about themselves to those they seek to rape. Inasmuch as they depend on lies to operate, however, they must resort to techniques based on non-truth. Among other things, they cannot count on inherent validity i...

Burma needs Obama's help
(30 Apr 2009)
WHEN CYCLONE NARGIS came roaring into Burma's Irrawaddy Delta last May 2, 138,000 people died, hundreds of thousands were left homeless and destitute, and the world saw the human rights horrors that the people of Burma confront under a rogue military junta. A year later, that regime remains in place. The Obama administration should press harder for change.
The junta's reaction to Nargis was appalling. Corrupt, paranoid generals wasted weeks rebuffing humanitarian aid from US Navy ships offshore,...

World's Urban Slums Increasing Risk of 'Megadisasters'
(18 May 2009)
Note: I would certainly include a virulent pandemic of any kind into this "Mega-disaster" warning. In my opinion a pandemic under the right conditions would probably kill exponentially more people than an tsunami, earthquake, or flood, because by definition, it isn't localized.

The Lady, a 'Fool' and a Crazy Dictator
By AUNG ZAW
Friday, May 15, 2009
Aung San Suu Kyi’s lawyer, Kyi Win, is an angry man. His client is now
in jail as a result of a madcap escapade by the American intruder John
William Yettaw.
“Everyone is very angry with this wretched American,” said Kyi Win.
“He is the cause of all these problems. He's a fool.”
While creatin...
