Postseason FT Disparity
(11 May 2009)
So we all know that Dwight led the league in FT attempts per game. Well after watching numerous NBA playoff games seemingly/almost convincingly be decided by the refs, I started thinking about what the FT attempt totals for the postseason would look like with respect to Dwight and the other top players from our Eastern Conference foes, and if perhaps it would further fuel the conspiracy fire.
Let's take a look (regular season FTApg are listed first followed by postseason numbers):
Dwight - 10.8F...

The Sanfords Disparity in Marital Smarts
(30 Jun 2009)
That new soap opera, The Sanfords of South Carolina, revives interest in a subject that intrigued me over decades of editing womens magazinesthe sexual politics of two-career marriages.
Working with ambitious women in their twenties and thirties, I was struck by how different their lives were from the Father-knows-best ethos of earlier generations. They werent holding jobs, as most of their mothers did, only until they could start homemaking and procreating.
In those dormitory marriages,...

Princeton Reverb vs. Deluxe Reverb vs. Vibroverb
(13 May 2009)
Obvious volume disparities aside, what do you all think are the main tonal differences between these three amps? Will they all get the same basic tone just at different volumes? I own a Vibroverb and a Princeton Reverb, and I find the PR has significantly less headroom than the Vverb (relatively speaking of course). I start to get breakup with the volume around 4 on the PR and not until 6 on the Vverb. Other than that, they both have that famous Fender bite and growl with reverb that just doesn'...

Positive first impressions + heretical opinion on what's 'wrong' with SSB...
(26 Apr 2009)
A bit of background first, I'm an old time Star Wars fan. My childhood was pretty much defined by the original trilogy and I remember fondly the old Action figures, comic books, even that trashy novel by Alan Dean Foster! :p
In highschool I was an X-Wing (and Tie Fighter) addict, and while I remember little of the details, I was strongly impressed by the depth and complexity of tactics thoose games created. I suppose they were partially responsible for my adult fascination with military wargamin...

Racism, White Men & Supreme Empathy
(30 May 2009)
When Justice Souters resignation was announced, it seemed clear to me that a minority female needed to be nominated and I hoped it would be as clear to the President. Sure, there would be the inevitable reverse racism and oppressed white man outrage, but as Justice Kennedy himself points out, even while ruling against the school diversity plans in Parents vs. Seattle Schools, A compelling interest exists in avoiding racial isolation.
Certainly we do not need to slice up the Supreme Court...

Justices to Hear White Firefighters Bias Claims

Quote: : NEW HAVEN Frank Ricci has been a firefighter here for 11 years, and he would do just about anything to advance to lieutenant.
The last time the city offered a promotional exam, he said in a sworn statement, he gave up a second job and studied up to 13 hours a day. Mr. Ricci, who is dyslexic, paid an acquaintance more than $1,000 to read textbooks onto audiotapes. He made flashcards, took practice tests, worked with a study group an...

Make gear more important (yes I said it)
(10 May 2009)
Darkfall needs skill decay! I've edited this post a ton since I originally made it, so now it actually has nothing to do with gear. Ignore that title, this thread is now officially about introducing skill decay.
In pretty much every MMORPG I can think of, the person who plays the most will inevitably be the strongest. That fact of life isn't going to be changing anytime soon, and I knew that coming into Darkfall with less than 15 hours of free time a week I would be disadvantaged.
The problem th...

My government made me a racist
(11 May 2009)
Not so many years ago I never gave much of a thought to my national identity, ethnicity, or religion.
I knew I was born in England, I knew I was brought up as church of England and I knew I was white, but I never thought about any of them nor did I think about anyone else's nationality, religion, or ethnic background.
The people around me of course, both my friends and my colleagues were from many different ethnic backgrounds and religions, it along with their sexuality was something that never g...

Taxpayers must pay for relentless level of racism that Aboriginalpeople here...
(11 Apr 2009)
Australian taxpayers will continue to pay for the racist criminals
they permit to attack and destroy Aboriginals lives at will day and
night for the last few centuries , at least now we have a permanent
record online for all time to prove what white christian capitalists
are REALLY like
Once taxpayers discover how much the few white christian capitalist
racists like Sir johnny coward have cost them and arrest him ,
billions of dollars can be saved every year
no wonder Qantas and tourism and auto...
