Looking for a good deal on a disc wheelset, thinking about Cane Creek zonos...
(14 Apr 2009)
I'm looking at buying a set of disc wheels to build up a Trek 9.9ssl frame. I am buying the avid elixer cr's and have mostly high end components. I noticed that I can get a pair of Cane Creek Zonos for about 200, and I have the ability to buy the easton am havocs for aboyt 420. Any suggestions would be appreciated, i dont want to buy the zonos if Cane creek is dumping them due to quality, but would consider them if they are a good true wheelset. Any mavic deals out there as well that anyone can...

Can you just insert the Windows 7 upgrade disc to do a clean install with...
(28 Jun 2009)
I had done a clean install of Windows 7 Beta on my laptop, so I don't know about the upgrade installation route. Here is my dilemna.
I have Vista 64bit Ultimate on my main machine and run WinXP Pro in VMware for the odd application that won't play nice with Vista 64bit.
I am thinking about using my WinXP Pro license as the basis to upgrade to the Win 7 Pro Upgrade I just pre-ordered on the cheap and sell off my copy of Vista Ultimate (full retail kit). Either way I need to do a clean install.
My...

Switching to disc brakes?
(27 May 2009)
My frame and fork have the correct mounting surfaces for disc brakes but my hubs are an older Shimano design. Is there any way I can avoid buying new wheels if I decide to switch to disc brakes (I'm still not convinced I need to do this, just thinking about it). If I could only afford to switch one, which one would be the wisest, front or rear?
Anyone have disc plus rims brakes, maybe using the rim brakes to slow the bike downhill?

Opinions on a Belt/Disc sanding combo
(23 Apr 2009)
I'm going to order a disc/belt sanding combo (stationary machine) this afternoon and I am leaning toward one of the following:
1) Powermatic 2HP/3Ph 230V
2) Powermatic 1.5 HP/1Ph 115V
3) Jet 1.5 HP/1Ph 115V
All are 12" disc and 6" x 48" belt.
Both Powermatics are the same price - Jet isn't much cheaper. I have heard that the Jets are on the "low end" of the Powermatic line - but I can't really see a difference. This tool is for a college sculpture classroom. We are wired up to use the 3PH - but...

3G brake discs opinions?
(07 May 2009)
I have tried a search but only threads regarding TT JDM>USA/Euro spec brake changes are shown.
The following retailer http://garagewhifbitz.co.uk/index.ph...2305&Itemid=53 is well respected in the UK with regards to the Supra. However, just because a company is reputable does not always mean that the best products will always be offered.
I am looking to replace the brake discs and pads, nothing for racing use as I just cruise around and use the Supra on the occasional weekend. For the money t...

Thinking about selling some other big stuff...
(16 Apr 2009)
OK. So here's the deal.
I'm kinda done with composing. Sounds stupid I know. But seriously. I need to pay some ridiculous bills that just popped up and my wife doesn't start her new job for another month. So here goes:
I have a couple things I am looking to sale but I've encountered some retarded problems. This is what I've got:
NI Komplete 3 w/upgrade to 4 - that means FM8, Acoustic Piano, Reaktor 5, Guitar Rig 2, Vokator, Electrik Piano, Kontact 2 (with lib.), Kompact, Intakt, Spectral Delay,...

How to create HD DVD/BluRay discs on Mac without spending + 500?
(30 May 2009)
I started this thread because it seems interesting to get opinions on this subject (coupled with my other thread about AVCHD editing on Mac). Anyway, I know FCE and even iMovie can be used pretty well for creating HD clips, but I would like to export these together with a DVD-like menu structure so I can choose which clips are displayed for example on my PS3.
So essentially, I want to create a DVD with HD content (playable on newer devices like Popcorn Hour, PS3, Xbox360 etc...). iDVD seems unab...

Are mech disc outdated and hydros the only way to go?
(11 Jun 2009)
I'm beginning to feel a bit insecure, as I'm still in the stone age of mech disc. I got some fancy bikes (well, not $2000+ fancy, but fancy enough to wow the non-bike people) and none have hydros. I've been thinking about upgrading my Jamis XLT with some hydros. It currently has Avid BB7. Right now I can't seem to justify spending silly money on them since the mech discs do the job. I would like to get Juicy 7s, but I'm not ready to unload over $200 yet. I sure would like to have that feathery b...

**are you going to buy the disc version?
(01 Jun 2009)
I want to hear people's opinions on what they plan to do about this tough choice.
The question is:
Are you going to buy the disc copy of the 2 DLCs, after already downloading TLaD?
I think I am...I bought the boxed version of Lost n Damned, just to get the box etc...I know it's kinda lame...but whatever.
so in theory, I will have 2 copies of Lost n Damned if I buy this new disc version of the DLCs.
anyone else plan to do this? - I kinda just want the disc/box etc..something tangible.
...and I do...
