Meridian M1's for sale

i'm thinking about selling my M1's
i'm sure some of you know all about these, for those that don't.
they are 3 way active speakers, first released in the mid-late 70's and cost £3000 a pair.
each speaker houses it's own amplifer unit which has 3x power amps and the active crossover.
the sound quality is amazing effortless transparent.
you'd have to spend much much more than £3000 now to get a better speaker/amp combo.
before this i used to have a 501/557 ATC and the M1's wiped the floor!

...although I'm thinking about sticking with them and going either the G61r+621+generic bluray or if we get a Sooloos announcement for multi channel or video - have heard that M have been quite busy with Sooloos recently but not sure what on - the HH2 announcement may mean they have a treat or two up their sleeve.
I definitely have two of the boxes and probably a make shift for the other. The M and S leads have been, erm, customised to fit. OK if your processor is in the fron...

by the way, in case an 8200 is due out, I would get in writing from dealer and/or meridian that you are entitled to an exact equivelent upgrade for up to 1 year. And if list price were to change you'd pay the difference. just a thought.

The D8k's or D8200's side firing Woofers reflecting almost directly into this Solid Side Wall Cabinet will play havoc with the sound, just as if you had placed the D8k's that near to a Side Wall. Mapex Meridian Maple VS Pearl Vision VMX

Hi,
I have a cheap Mapex Q serie and I want to uprgrade to a bigger and better drum set. I want a 7-pieces for sure. I'm split between the meridian maple and the vision VMX. I'm ready to put about 2000$ into that kit.
Which one is better in your opinion? Is there other drum in this categorie that could interest me? And the Pro M serie, is it good as the meridian serie? What are the differences? Please say all you know about those drums.

Some good news to share - Meridian HQ are thinking about the next Hiker's Day.
Before any arrangements are made the question has been asked whether we collectively could manage a visit on a Friday rather than Saturday. Timing is likely to be before mid-July.

Speakers and dynamic range vs "dynamic sound"

Okay, I've been thinking about this since Frantz and I tossed this back and forth at each other.
As many people have found, speakers that have big drivers and the ability to move air sound more 'dynamic' at higher volumes because they don't have as much distortion generally. Or as I call it, 'more effortless'.
Others feel that high efficiency speakers sound more 'dynamic', EVEN at very low to normal volumes where driver compression isn't an issue. (I think this is often a coloration with too muc...
