Crackdown fans: What's your summer-sandbox game? (Prototype, Red Faction,...
(11 Jun 2009)
It seems that there are a decent amount of Crackdown fans on this forum. Sure, there are plenty of detractors who only saw it as a bonus to their Halo 3 Beta, but there is a percentage of us who appreciate the simple beauty of the game. It was liberating for those of us with a rampant imagination and a love of superhero abilities.
My question for those of you who loved Crackdown is this: Will you be buying/renting either Red Faction: Guerrilla or Prototype this summer? More importantly, if you h...

The Israeli Police Crackdown on the New Profile Women
No Talking, Dammit!
By DEB REICH
"Police arrested magic And magic went with them For magic loves the hungry"
--Leonard Cohen
The Israeli Police have set themselves up to become the laughingstock of the world. Look what they've done:
It was a pinpoint maneuver, timed for maximum impact just before the nation's Memorial Day, designed to intimidate unarmed civilian idealists whose alleged crime is to...

Edge Online Crackdown 2 Interview
(25 Jun 2009)
Quote: : Dundee-based Ruffian Games would much rather talk about Crackdown 2 than David Jones, but sadly its not that simple. The founding head of Realtime Worlds confessed this month to being a bit miffed at Microsofts choice of developer for the sequel: Ruffian isnt just on his studios doorstep, but home to many of his former employees. From Redmonds angle, though, surely that makes it the perfect choice, especially when so much of its workforce was instrumental in building the original...

Your Thoughts on the Recent Elections & Crackdown in Iran
(08 Jul 2009)
Curiosity killed the cat, but I would be interested to hear what you think about the recent elections, protests and crackdown in Iran.
I, myself, stand squarely behind the people protesting against the subversion of their electoral process and the suppression of their freedom of assembly, association and expression in Iran. The scenes from Tehran reminded me of the heady days of 1989 when crowds of protesters gathered in Tiananmen Square and at the Berlin Wall. Amazing times, then and now.
Ultim...

Just played Crackdown
(14 Apr 2009)
Well, I borrowed Crackdown from my brother in law, and I must say I am impressed.
Official Site: Crackdown On Crime
Overall it was very fun. I liked the idea of leveling up the character by using the skills. There wasn't much of a story, but that was ok, the action made up for it.
At first I was aggravated with it, there was no tutorial and very little 'beginner help'. It was made worse when they plop you in a vehicle right at the start without any advice lol. The fact that driving sucked in the...

Thinking about getting an Xbox 360
(22 Jun 2009)
I want to play Mass Effect and Fable II.
I'm trying to justify the $200 purchase since I already have a Wii and PS3.
I think if I can come up with 5 other exclusives (or console exclusives) that I'm interested in, I can do it.
Lets clear up a few things about my tastes though...
1. I like to get games that I will keep. If I lose interest in a game, I end up selling it, so even though I may like the game, if I don't feel like I am going to play it again, I can't include it on my list of 5 games....

My opinions on Infamous
(29 Jun 2009)
So far, it is a very fun game, but the game would've benefited from custom soundtracks while exploring the city. The main character is likeable, but overall in terms of game design, Crackdown is better.
The whole feeling of being a badass is more evident on Crackdown, and the vertical challenge is better too.
Nothing on Infamous compares to climbing the Crackdown tower.

$30: What to buy? The Tdard opinions.
(08 Jun 2009)
I've been inspired by Ben's ramblings of Final Fantasy X and John's enthusiasm of Crackdown to ask you guys this: What cheap-ass good games should I buy? I could easily get one or two games. I'm having a sudden urge to buy a massive RPG like Persona 4 or Final Fantasy X for some reason.

Microsoft E3 Summary and Opinions
(01 Jun 2009)
Brief summary of the goods:
Shadow Complex
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Final Fantasy XIII
Crackdown 2
Left4Dead 2
Splinter Cell Conviction
Halo 3: ODST & Halo Reach (coming sometime in 2010)
Alan Wake
Metal Gear Solid Rising (or as the Microsoft speaker said it, Meadow Gill Solid)
Project Natal - Controller-less input device
I would rate their conference a B+. A lot of their stuff are just rehashes of games. I must say I was pleasantly surprised with Splinter Cell... that looked like the best...

Iran Elections
(25 Jun 2009)
Opinions? Is this the last hurrah of the ayatollahs or will it just be another bloody, brutal crackdown?
[nsfw]Seeing shit like this come out of the protests in Teheran is fucking horrible.[nsfw]
