1. Road Coursing and Star Spec Tread   (17 Jun 2009)
We'll she's finally track ready and I broke it in at the Autobahn in Joliet, IL. I have some brand spankin' new Dunlop 235/40/17 Star Specs at the moment and am a little concerned with the tread after an afternoon at the track. It looks like I did some tire melting and some of it ended up in the actual tread (making them appear pretty worn out). I just wanted some opinions on actual tread wear so I know I just didn't burn through a brand new set of tires or did I? Thanks.

2. Want opinions on tread depth   (05 Jun 2009)
I'm about to put ~1800 miles on my car in a matter of 8 days. And really don't want to spend $800 on new tires unless it's absolutely necessary (right now). I bought the car with ~37k on it (my sig says my current mileage) and it came with Sumotomo HTR+ tires. On the front tread is 5/32" on the outside and 6/32" on the inside. On the rear tread is 4/32" on the outside and 3/32" on the inside. Could I pull this trip off by putting a few psi over on the front and couple lower on the rear?

3. Aluminess Slates vs Tread Plate   (10 Apr 2009)
Im thinking of a full van roof rack from aluminess, but unsure which of the above two styles would be "better". Just wondering what other thoughts people have other than: the tread plate would direct water better or at least differently, as well as block most of the sun from directly heating the roof (my van in maroon), I do not a penthouse top yet, but I plan to get the roof rack first and mount it, and in a year or so, get the penthouse and have to re-mount it there. thanks for anything that y...

4. Possible defect - tread block separation?   (22 May 2009)
I was dropping the tire pressure in a sunny parking lot and noticed that the tread blocks on my front tire have cracks at the base of the blocks. The cracking is pretty consistent around the circumference but is most pronounced on the left side of the tire (when viewed from the riding position). Any opinions if this is safe to ride? I have an email in to the factory web site but I don't know how quickly they will respond. Once I get a response (or a long enough period of time elapses...) I'll le...

5. Feeler add thinking about selling white on black 96 cobra   (11 Jun 2009)

6. Where officers fear to tread   (09 Apr 2009)
When arguing against citizen’s rights to be able to bear arms for self-defense, anti-gunners always propagate the myth that citizens do not need this right because the police will protect you. However, if you think about it logically, this is an extremely naïve position to take. Look around you right now. Is there a police officer visible? Unless you work in a police station or courthouse, the answer is probably “No.” As I pointed out in a previous week’s article, the police, as much as they mig...

7. Thinking About Selling It All   (26 Apr 2009)
Hey Everyone, Well, life has gotten unusually busy for me. You can probably tell as I have not been on much lately, and have not had the time for all the latest requests for custom covers. Between my work schedule and my kids, I have not had the time to put into my GA or Quad stuff lately, and I only see that getting worse fir the next couple years. I want her to get the attention she deserves NOW and be more than an occasional driver, or I want her to get the turbo project done I began amassing...

8. Need to replace tires, looking for opinions   (16 Jun 2009)
Need to replace the Bridgestone Potenzas on my sports sedan. I'm looking at either the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics or the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Anyone riding either of these tires? The PS2's have a great reputation but the F1 Asymmetrics are relatively new (2007 or so) and have been getting good reviews. The F1's would also be about $250 cheaper for a set of 4. My needs are for excellent dry traction, decent durability/tread life, and low to moderate road noise. These are max. performance...
