fernb8's End of Season Analysis/Opinions/Thoughts - Soccer
(31 May 2009)
Well ladies and gents its back after a hiatus last season. As many of you are well aware I do an end of season analysis, etc which I have done for several seasons now, with the exception of last season, which like that fat girl in college, is best left undiscussed.
So the 2008-09 Season for me in a nutshell...
a very big nutshell.
Biggest Disapointments/Negatives
1. Luis Felipe Scolari- yes I drank the kool aid and thought we had finally landed a good manager after the Grant debalce and the cons...

"Sale! Repo Special!"
(13 Apr 2009)
I am not trying to sell a boat, and will explain the title.
I was on the highway last weekend, and drove through the lot of a boat
dealer. Instead of a few new boats parked around the main entrance, there
were a few boats that were a couple years old. Each of them had the same
sign on them - "Sale! Repo Special!"
I am not sure of what to think about this. They are nice boats, 20' to 24'
and very clean. Couple hours drive to water big enough for them, though.
Not trying to post anything dismal, b...

We WILL Defend our Long Held Opinions
(18 Jun 2009)

For some people, optimistic thoughts can do more harm than good
“I CAN pass this exam”, “I am a wonderful person and will find love
again” and “I am capable and deserve that pay rise” are phrases that
students, the broken-hearted and driven employees may repeat to
themselves over and over again in the face of adversity. Self-help books
through the ages, including Norman Vincent Peale’s 1952 classic, “The
Power of...

is mark thompson the best coach in the AFL?
(16 Jun 2009)
obviously stephen wells has done a fantastic job as head recruiter, but i dont think mark thompson gets enough credit for what he has built down at the cattery.
when people discuss the best coaches in the afl, they never bring thompsons name into the equation, but when you think about what he has achieved in his time as senior coach, it is nothing short of phenominal.
when he came into the job in 2000, the club was left in dismal and going no where courtesy of ayres.
when taking over, he did a c...

Coming off a dismal 08-09 duck season, I questioned giving it all up. Deer and turkey are what I know best and I just thought about sticking with what I know best. Reflecting on these thoughts one morning on the way to work, I noticed a group of about 4 mallards swimming on a little private pond right off the edge of the highway. Those things were absoultuly gorgeous. Every morning and afternoon I would start slowing down when I approached that pond to glance out there and see what those ducks w...

Thrombolytics in ''Cardiac arrest''
(05 May 2009)
hye guys i really would like to post this so bad, and i cant wait for your replay specially people who work in emergency medicine and have enough experience.
We all know how dismal the resuscitation rates are in adult patients that have cardiac arrest. If a patient has V.Fib and doesn't respond to the three initial shocks or one 360j shock according to the New ACLS guidelines, the chances of survival drop off incredibly. Lidocaine, amiodarone, EPI ''Adrenaline'', high dose EPI...nothing works we...

-ToS Idea-
(15 Jun 2009)
I'm not sure if this has already been discussed or not, but I had an idea while thinking about the (apparently) poor-received sequel to ToS.
What do you guys think of a prequel to ToS, involving Mithos and his original companions, telling their story. This wasn't really explained much during the original game, other than the fact that they were on a journey to stop the war, they were companions, and Martel died. I think this could be a really interesting game, and shed some light on Mithos and t...

Florida - Duffy has waited 7 YEARS in the shelter for a home
(29 Apr 2009)
Hi, I am Duffy , a handsome shepherd mix. I have been here patiently waiting in my little kennel for seven long years. I have never lost hope, but I have to admit, my chances for my own forever home are looking a little dismal. I arrived at the shelter when I was a four month old pup and was adopted right away.
But there was some trouble with my family and I ended up being returned to the shelter because they weren't treating me very well. That was when I was about 2 years old, and here I have s...

Gun Show Report: Fayetteville, NC
(08 Jun 2009)
I went to the "Dogpatch" gun show yesterday expecting a dismal vendor turnout, but was pleasantly disappointed.
The Expo hall was filled to within 30 feet of the north wall. I noted that the number of ammo vendors was up from previous shows. One newcomer is a young fellow who is running a "hobby" ammo stand. He had some spam cans of Bulgarian light ball (80's vintage) for $125, can opener included. I'd have bought some were it not for my present stock. He was very interested in my opinions about...
