Opinions on a 12fret neck joint, short scale 15/16 in lower bout- Sound? ...
(15 Jun 2009)
Looking for a short scale guitar that doesn't give up the full sound, snap and sparkle of a longer neck (dreamer?)
Shopping around for a big rich sound but need the shortest scale neck with out the strictly "parlor' sound. A versatile full short scale.
Really just beginning to appreciate the acoustic guitar design issues and some builders work- Laskin, Beardsell.
I'm going to the Montreal Jazz fest guitar show in 2 weeks and am looking to settle down with a versatile short scale guitar this summ...

The Trend for Women to Wear Shirts Buttoned to the Neck

The Trend for Women to Wear Shirts Buttoned to the Neck
I noticed a lot of girls have been wearing shirts, not mens but designed like them, buttoned right to the top button. Polo shirts as well but not in the chavvy guy way of doing it so with collars down.
What do you guys think about it? Do you think it looks good on women? Or even on guys? Do you do it yourself?

Finishing a Warmoth Neck
(31 May 2009)
I'm a complete novice with this sort of thing. I was thinking about using Tru-Oil to finish the neck and fingerboard (neck is walnut, fingerboard is ebony). With a Warmoth neck do I need to sand the back beforehand or just begin applying coats? Also, how do I go about finishing the fingerboard itself? And yes, I realize this voids any warranty with Warmoth.
As of right now, this is the kit I was thinking about purchasing:

Sanding the neck...
(18 Apr 2009)
I finally realized what I like about vintage necks! Simply put... they're worn. They feel smoother. My fingers feel like they're touching wood rather than finish. In fact, my favorite strat is a custom shop model with essentially bare maple on the back.
So naturally I started thinking about what I could do to make my partscaster necks feel better. The first thing that came to mind was sanding down the neck to the bare wood on the back, but I want to know what I'm risking here and how to do it ri...

Want to buy a new guitar but am concerned about the glossy neck
(30 May 2009)
Hi, this dilemma involves an electric guitar but it could apply to acoustics as well so I thought I would take a shot.
I have thinking about getting an electric guitar and my love of the Beatles and REM has led me to the Rickenbacker, the 330 especially. I played a bunch at a dealer today and they sound great. The trouble for me is that I dont like gloss necks. I avoid them on acoustics and I was hoping to do the same on an electric. Its my understanding that all the Rics have the gloss neck (...

Necks and their effect on tone
(08 May 2009)
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I was surprised to find recently that a lot of you think the neck is the most critical factor on a Strat, even before pickups, for determining how it's going to sound. I didn't really buy that at the time, but I'm starting to reconsider.
I got a Road Worn 60s Strat a few weeks ago and it felt real nice and looked real nice so I bought it knowing that the thinnish sounding tone would probably be addressed by a pickup swap. So by and large, not a lot of...

Neck Pain -
(14 May 2009)
"This is for "thewizof3." PT is only one small part of a comprehensive pain management program. There are dozens of treatments for people with spinal problems. Look for a pain clinic or pain management program that offers a comprehensive array of treatments, including brace, TENS, traction, acupuncture, biofeedback, physical therapy, kinesiotherapy, injection of steroids and anesthetics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, cortisone, rhyzotomy (radio frequency denervation), spinal cord stimulator...

Opinions on this neck refinish.
(15 May 2009)
Right, after 3 months of waiting I finally got back my beloved Strat. It was sent off for a refret and finish. I paid £280 and im not exactly happy with the finish. The reason it was sent off in the first place was the finish was starting to bubble next to the fret wire on the upper frets.
If someone who has experience with refinishes could take a look and give their opinion on it would be appriciated.
What stands out to me are the scratches on the finish, the big buildups of laquer on some of t...

LEATT Neck Brace for ADV Riders
(12 Jun 2009)
Well,
Over the past year I have been focusing solely on REV'IT! gear. Most of you know me from my REV'IT! Gear for ADV Riders thread . I have been thinking about expanding my product range for quite a while. I needed something that would compliment REV'IT! gear. I'm AGATT freak myself and I test every product before I offer it to fellow riders.
I'm glad to report that I just became authorized LEATT dealer. Great reputation, high quality, functional and affordable, LEATT Braces are just the ticke...

Abuse Victim... Damage To Back/Neck? Opinions please.s
(29 Jun 2009)
I was hoping to get people's opinion before my doctors appointment next week. I'm 22 and had been a victim of domestic violence for 6 months straight. In October 2008 my husband was arrested for giving me a concussion. The concussion was caused my him grabbing me by the shoulders and slamming me full force repeatedly against a wall. I never went to the hospital for this injury, only got checked over by the police and their team to confirm I had a concussion. Since then I've realized I can no lon...
