Forced to "Resign" or Be Fired - Can I Collect Unemployment
(23 May 2009)
Michigan.
Hi, everyone.
I was forced to resign (or be terminated) at the end of December, following a major workforce reduction at my company - simply because I voiced concern about the impact that the re-organization would have on my quality of life (basically, requiring me to spend 6-7 days a week on airplanes and never seeing my family). Quite frankly, I apparently irritated the wrong person/people by not jumping for joy at the news, and they canned me for it.
As I was concerned about the lon...

Step One
"We admitted we were powerless over our addiction, that our lives had become unmanageable."
A "first" of anything is a beginning, and so it is with the steps: The First Step is the beginning of the recovery process. The healing starts here; we can't go any further until we've worked this step.
Some NA members "feel" their way through the First Step1 by intuition; others choose to work Step One in a more systematic fashion. Our reasons for formally working Step One will vary from member...

They wake up beside each other in his downtown bachelor apartment and have sex that neither of them particularly enjoys. Theyve been sort-of dating for a while now, but theyre not willing to commit to each other: He likes her but doesnt know if he always will. Don Bohning Writes of Simkin's Leftist Motivated Inaccuracues
(25 Jun 2009)
Since June, 2008, Don Bohning has written two similar pieces. I've edited them to emphasize his criticism of his perception of John Simkin's
political orientation and Bohning's accusations that Simkin, and apparently, other forum members, post inaccurate and misleading information
consistent with Bohning's perception of what constitutes leftist political ideology. I also included Bohning's descriptions of former CIA agents, Wilson and Goss:

Rush, Newspeak & Fascism: An Exegesis
(28 Jun 2009)
John Stokes, a Kalispell, Mont., radio host, lit a green swastika on fire at an 'anti-Earth Day' rally.
This is a thoughtful essay by David Neiwert on the various scholarly definitions of fascism and how they apply to America's righ-wing groups today. He analyzes various domestic right-wing groups and how they work with traditional conservatives today. He identifies "transmitters" in the mainstream body politic that coordinate this alliance between extremist/conservatives and interject refined e...

Historical research 4: artillery, generals, the turning point

THE BATTLE OF THE GUNS
The materiel and the personnel
The artillerymen have left virtually no record of their communal life in peacetime. A little more survives to tell us of
their experiences in combat, but it still does not correspond to the greatly increased
importance which the artillery acquired during the Age of Reason.
After the wars of the 1740s it was still possible to maintain that ‘cannon fire does no
great damage during a battle, and that it is a proverb among our military men that y...
