You and Your Mama

Without much thinking about it, what memory comes to mind?
Me:
When I was eight, mama inherited some money from an estate. On the day the cheque arrived, she threw her old apron on the kitchen chair. We walked downtown [it was not far] and retrieved the shoes I'd been coveting. Two tone patent. Platforms. Slick and shiny. Cool.
It was a very good day.

Opinions from Experienced Mamas, please

My DH and I received a save the date yesterday for a wedding that is taking place one day after my due date. This is my first baby and I have NO CLUE what things are going to be like. The wedding is an hour and a half drive away. If I haven't had the baby yet, I'll be at 40 weeks 1 day.
Should we tell them we can't make it to the wedding? Should I not even bother trying to go?
We feel guilty because it's one of DH's best friends, who was a groomsman in our wedding.
What's your opinion on this?

I was thinking about this the other day & was wondering how the rest of you were doing, if things have become easier? More challenging? Any new tips or tricks you've learned to help?

i was thinking about murphy and he is so sweet, and i was wondering why he hasn't been adopted yet, which then got me thinking about his mama and a the mamas we have in rescue. the mamas have done the hard work, given birth to many beautiful puppies, and by doing so have brought so many families so much joy. so....how about a mamas page where we can feature all the mamas in spbr? i think its a great idea, what does everyone else think?

Car Free Mama's?

I'm thinking about moving to an urban area and going car free. any mama's have advice? I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and I'm gonna be a single mama when I do this.
I need the right strollers and am thinking about a trailer for my bike for longer trips. Most things we need are within 2-5 blocks though.

So musiclady having her baby got me thinking about how close I feel to you all...I feel like she, and all the rest of you, are close, even if distant, friends! And I was also thinking about how close we all are to the end of our pregnanies. Pretty soon all of our babies will be here and then eventually this forum will close, right?? I see moms from 08 posting in Life with a Babe and the old DDC's are in archives, so I assume that is what happens.
