Obviously this is what is on EVERYONE'S mind when they think about Nintendo's E3 press conference--That it's high time Nintendo show at least one major 'core' game for the Wii this year, such as a new Mario, Zelda, Metroid or some new or revived hardcore IP.

Ahem...
E3 has not finished yet but the conferences have...I was very amazed with the direction Microsoft and Sony are going (I'll bring in Nintendo later).
I was not really surprised for the fact that not many games were announced. Sure there was Halo: Reach, Metal Gear Solid: Rising for PS3/360, Left 4 Dead 2 PC/360, Crysis 2 for 360/PS3/PC etc...
I was very surprised to see that Rare did not even show up or suggested any kind of announcements for 360 neither did Sony's other companies. We alr...

It's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. As far as I know, this hasn't been officially unveiled yet, but I'm still excited as to what it could possibly be. Here's the wikipedia article on it in case you aren't familiar with it.

In my opinion, the DSi would become the definitive handheld IF it has a virtual console feature that can download and play GB, GBC, and GBA games on it. Maybe even have the ability to download old DS games as well, like the PSP can download old PSP games.
But as of right now, I don't see any incentive to pick up a DSi yet. There's only potential, but other than that, there really is nothing that cries out to me that it's a must-have upgrade right now.

This is a question that I think about all the time when I play video games. Sure people think of Nintendo as a company that makes games for children and such, but what if Nintendo never existed? It is something that, on the surface, one would think that it would just be Sony and Microsoft in the hunt. Or would there be nothing at all? Keep in mind that Nintendo hit it big with Super Mario Bros. after the video game crash of 83' (if you don't know what that is, I suggest you look it up. Fascinati...

Nostalgia can be an ill-advised indulgence. Looking back at fond memories through rose tinted lenses invokes the illusion of pleasant times and any negativity which may have been present is masked in favour of the 'feel good'.
This is nevermore apparent when your hobby happens to be video games.
