1. Rumor: New Super Mario *or* Zelda for Wii at E3 2009   (27 May 2009)
Obviously this is what is on EVERYONE'S mind when they think about Nintendo's E3 press conference--That it's high time Nintendo show at least one major 'core' game for the Wii this year, such as a new Mario, Zelda, Metroid or some new or revived hardcore IP. Yet there are two new articles that just went online--One with somewhat specific rumors regarding a follow-up to Super Mario Galaxy, and the other saying that there is an understanding that Nintendo will reveal either a new Mario or Zelda fo...

2. The Future of Gaming is Bright I see where this is going - Read (Long Epic...   (03 Jun 2009)
Ahem... E3 has not finished yet but the conferences have...I was very amazed with the direction Microsoft and Sony are going (I'll bring in Nintendo later). I was not really surprised for the fact that not many games were announced. Sure there was Halo: Reach, Metal Gear Solid: Rising for PS3/360, Left 4 Dead 2 PC/360, Crysis 2 for 360/PS3/PC etc... I was very surprised to see that Rare did not even show up or suggested any kind of announcements for 360 neither did Sony's other companies. We alr...

3. How video game characters got their names   (20 Jun 2009)
More after the jump. Quote: As some people who follow this blog may have noticed — and others may have gone to great lengths to ignore — I periodically post about “games and names,” or etymologies and explanations of names and words that appear in video games. Over time, I’ve come across various bits of information that I didn’t feel deserved their own post but that might be interesting to regular readers and the great number of people who accidentally Google their way here. I began collecting t...

4. Project Sora: Anybody else curious about it?   (22 Jun 2009)
It's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. As far as I know, this hasn't been officially unveiled yet, but I'm still excited as to what it could possibly be. Here's the wikipedia article on it in case you aren't familiar with it. Quote: : Project Sora is a Japanese video game developer founded by former HAL Laboratory employee Masahiro Sakurai. It was formed in the year 2009 after the successful launch of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii console. On formation of the new company Nin...

5. According to Nintendo Reggie Fils-Aime, there's no DSi Virtual Console planned...   (08 Apr 2009)
In my opinion, the DSi would become the definitive handheld IF it has a virtual console feature that can download and play GB, GBC, and GBA games on it. Maybe even have the ability to download old DS games as well, like the PSP can download old PSP games. But as of right now, I don't see any incentive to pick up a DSi yet. There's only potential, but other than that, there really is nothing that cries out to me that it's a must-have upgrade right now. "DSi Virtual Console? Sorry, no plans." But...

6. What if Nintendo never existed?   (26 May 2009)
This is a question that I think about all the time when I play video games. Sure people think of Nintendo as a company that makes games for children and such, but what if Nintendo never existed? It is something that, on the surface, one would think that it would just be Sony and Microsoft in the hunt. Or would there be nothing at all? Keep in mind that Nintendo hit it big with Super Mario Bros. after the video game crash of 83' (if you don't know what that is, I suggest you look it up. Fascinati...

7. Wind Waker: A Retrospective   (25 Apr 2009)
Sailing, sunken treasure and salty lashings of Yo-Ho-Ho Nostalgia can be an ill-advised indulgence. Looking back at fond memories through rose tinted lenses invokes the illusion of pleasant times and any negativity which may have been present is masked in favour of the 'feel good'. This is nevermore apparent when your hobby happens to be video games. Software that I grew up loving and adoring into adulthood now seem like exercises in mental torture. Jealously protected affections are ruthlessly...

8. The Space Invaders Extreme XBLA Official Thread   (01 May 2009)
The Header: What is Space Invaders Extreme? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Invaders_Extreme Quote: : Space Invaders Extreme is a re-vamped incarnation of the classic arcade game Space Invaders. The DS and PSP versions were released to mark the 30th anniversary of Space Invaders which saw its original arcade release in 1978. 9. Alex Muscas reviews Super Mario Bros   (17 May 2009)
Today I'm going to be reviewing the game that changed gaming forever, Super Mario Bros! You see lots of platformers nowadays, but Super Mario Bros is the original and by far the best. It introduced to so many things that are still used today (moving platforms, warp pipes, ect.). If this game hadn't been so fun I doubt there would have been so many Mario sequels and spin-offs. Super Mario Bros was so great that it turned everyone favourite tubby italian plumber into Nintendo's main mascot. It mak...

10. Top 10 games to include in top-10 lists   (20 May 2009)
Quote: : Quote: : 10.Halo 3 Halo 3 makes the list purely for its fan-factor. Most readers aren’t looking at these lists for actual insight; they’re looking for the cheap gratification that comes from seeing their favorite game on the list. So the smart thing to do is put a relatively recent high-selling game right on top of the list where it’s most visible – and in 10th place where it does the least damage. 9.Guitar Hero 4 The Guitar Hero series presents another ground-breaking game for 15-year-...
