VS 2008 vb.net and mysql login

i recently added a login that uses mysql database now it use to pull data from text file but as i said i made it use mysql now..
it works great locally but when i sent it to a friend to test the login he got this error..

I made thsi in vb.net in a few mins but i think some one would like it
By the way this doues not have any virus's in it and i whould never think about doing that sorta stuff as only jerks do that and i am not one of 'em
In the .zip file is a EXE you will net the vb.net runtime to run it but most of us have that now we have SP2/SP3!

I havent programed anything since VB6 back in 2004/5. I'd like to get back in the game again but where should I start? Pick up with VB.net or start clean witn C# or C++? I've played with C++ before but never really got into it like I did with VB.

Hi everybody,
i am thinking about what's the best way to deploy a save SQLServer2005 Express edition. I have a batch file already that uses SQLEXPR to setup the database server instance and set an initial sa password. by nature, you can open the batch file and read the initial sa password.
So after installing like this, i want to write a VB.NET Program to
1) create a user like "my_sa" with sa priviliges and a password of my choise,

Should I Get a Degree in Computer Science

I know this forum is more to get solutions on code that you are writing, but I figure that since there are a lot of professional developers here I might get some good advice on a career question.
I currently have a BS in Accounting. My plan is to get good at Java, then become a SCJP or SCJA. I also plan to learn VB.net, C#, and C++. Then become a Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD). I am also thinking about joining some open source application development teams.

Is it worth going to Git from SVN for a single developer?

Is it worth going to GIT from SVN when the repositories are mainly accessed by a single developer? I have several machines that I use for development and not mainly develop in C#. But I have a mix of VB, VB.Net, PHP, C#, C++, HTML, Batch, BASH and many more in my repositories. What, if anything, will I gain by migrating to GIT from SVN? Right now use TortoiseSVN + VisualSVN Server with a set of central repositories and several client machines. While I have granted a few friends access to my repo...

Just wanted to see how many people in this group were using VB.NET 2008 Express to develop their add-ins.
I've been using it for ~3weeks now and am very impressed. Microsoft did a good job on the IDE and with the 2010 template project, it is very simple to make Add-ins (and the Express version is free! )

Hello all. I have a new project to build and it's significantly bigger than my other ones. It's replacing an old VB program so we were thinking of developing in the new VB.net environment, but I'm finding making the switch from VBA to full VB a lot tougher than I had anticipated. So it's gotten me thinking about trying in Access, but I was wondering if I was barking up the wrong tree.

This is a matter on which I would like to gauge the opinion of the community: Do you still limit the length of lines of code to a fixed maximum?
This was certainly a convention of the past for many languages; one would typically cap the number of characters per line to a value such as 80 (and more recnetly 100 or 120 I believe). As far as I understand, the primary reasons for limiting line length are:
