I don't want Niedermayer.
(21 May 2009)

Here's why.
I think he's a douchebag. At the age of 33, as one of the premiere players
in his position, he decides he's not even sure if he wants to play the game
any more. He's arrogant enough to say that he's achieved all the things he
wants to achieve and why should he keep playing... Takes half a year off,
fucks around his team, not saying if he's coming back or not. I think he's a
cheap shot artist who doe...

Don Cherry: the movie
(15 May 2009)
Would you watch a biopic about Don Cherry? The CBC thinks you will.
The Canadian broadcaster has commissioned a project featuring the
Hockey Night in Canada host that begins filming next week in Winnipeg.
Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story was written by the son of
the CoachÂ’s Corner personality, Tim Cherry, who is also serving as
executive producer. The movie stars Jared Keeso as Don Cherry, and
Sarah Manninen as the late Rose Cherry.
There should be no shortage of fodder for the scr...

Laser Eye Surgery anyone??
(14 May 2009)
On Thu, 14 May 2009 21:49:05 -0700, "BQ" <ldhorvath@noshaw.ca
Just had my consultation and booked my surgery. I know Steve (Nuk) had this
done but wondered if anyone else had it done and can give me some opinions.
I am not doing the PRK but the custom wavemount surgery, mainly cause I
don't have a week to be off for recovery. It is more expensive than I
thought, but not needing glasses for every stinking thing, no more contact
and solutions and all that - I think it will be worth it...

Sundin and observations
(12 May 2009)
On Tue, 12 May 2009 08:27:22 -0700 (PDT), Darius Mancini <dariusmancini71@yahoo.ca
1. Sundin's last game as a Canuck was his best as a Canuck. He
offered a glimpse of the kind of player he was prior to about 5 years
ago.
2. Luongo. The way I see it he should of stopped 2 or 3 of those 7
goals. I can see the complaints both ways. A good chunk of the salary
cap is tied into his salary, he is constantly touted as one of the
best in the league, and in my opinion comes across as rather arro...

OT - Statutory Holidays and Pay
(06 May 2009)
On Wed, 6 May 2009 19:30:07 -0700, "BQ" <ldhorvath@noshaw.ca
I do this for a living, so you'd think I would know, but all of our
employees are full-time.
My daughter worked weekends for a small shop in Chemainus BC. She usually
worked Sat & Sun each weekend. She did work on Good Friday, which is the
Statutory holiday. She was not paid for this at the 1 1/2 rate for this
day. Her employer says she didn't work 15 of 30 calendar days preceeding
the holiday to be entitled to holiday...

Getting way ahead of myself
(20 Apr 2009)
On Mon, 20 Apr 2009 04:23:37 GMT, Zaphod <zaphod@beeblebrox.net
Since we aren't past the first round it's sort of premature, but I
started thinking about round two anyway since the Blues don't look like
they are going anywhere fast. Do we get the Wings in round two? How
does it all work? It sure would be sweet to get the winner of Chigago/
Calgary instead of either of the other two.

OT: Getting married in different States/US
(18 Apr 2009)
On Sat, 18 Apr 2009 09:37:33 -0500, "R Green" <noonehome@noneofyourbiz.com
Just floating this out there to see if anyone has any experience in this...
Let's say you're already married in Canada. You decide to register and
marry in a State again. You can sub "Canada" for any foreign country really
or even another State/Province, whatever...
What are the disadvantages of doing so if there are any? I'm thinking
mostly of for tax purposes/legality-wise.
I'm forced to think about filin...

diehard fans anymore - the guys who have been watching and spending

The Vancouver Canucks can expect a tough, physical series when they take on
the St. Louis Blues in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The third-seeded Canucks open their seven-game series against the
sixth-seeded Blues on Wednesday at GM Place.
And it will be against a team that is hitting the ground running afte...
