Simplest way to move a test site to a live site?

Hi,
I've created a test site to test upgrades and new modules in joomla. I'm trying to think about the easiest way to copy the test site to the live site. I wouldn't want to copy the test database to the live site because it wouldn't be up2date. So, I'm wondering if I can just copy all the files over (excluding configuration.php) from test to live when the time comes? Would this work? Is there a better way to do it?

Two questions, Help and opinions needed please!

Okay first question... For my build up I need to know what downpipes fit on the MK2 TD setup. I have "heard" the toilet bowl for diesels is bigger than the standard one. I have an MK1 diesel car or two avalible and a crapload of gas MK1's with toiletbowls. No MK2 TD setups though.
What on earth do I need to fit this up? If anyone can verify the MK1 deisel or gas ones will work, I can simply enlarge the DP or something if need be. I hate these things but its the cleanest and simplest method to ha...

A bit of background first, I'm an old time Star Wars fan. My childhood was pretty much defined by the original trilogy and I remember fondly the old Action figures, comic books, even that trashy novel by Alan Dean Foster! :p
In highschool I was an X-Wing (and Tie Fighter) addict, and while I remember little of the details, I was strongly impressed by the depth and complexity of tactics thoose games created. I suppose they were partially responsible for my adult fascination with military wargamin...
