I am thinking about Martin Logan Spire speakers...
(02 May 2009)
The reviews look good. I am going to try and hear them somewhere and if I like what I hear try to determine if they would be ok in my room and of course what kind of amplification they require. Has anyone of youse guys heard these?

Martin D-16 GT opinions?
(21 May 2009)
Hey everyone. I play electric guitar and want to pick up an acoustic because I do not have one. I can get a used but in excellent shape Martin D-16 GT gloss top acoustic guitar for $750. Is this a good deal, and is this a good guitar? I am also looking at a 1986 Yairi DY-45 for $600. To me, the Martin sounds a little better. Any advice?
Thanks!!!

played a nice Martin OMJM today, some ? for Martin followers
(05 Jun 2009)
Had some time today to check out a shop i went in around 7 months ago. I had played this exact OMJM John Mayer edition at that time and really liked it. I am pretty much a diehard Taylor fan and very used to that Taylor neck feel and width, and i primarily prefer fingerstyle. All that being said, if I had had the $ today that OMJM would have come home with me.
I played a couple other Martins and the only other one that stood out for me was a standard D-18. That too was a nice guitar for me. The...

Opinions of the Martin DR?
(06 May 2009)
I played one a few months ago while visiting with a Martin HD-35 that I was smitten by and was pleased by this modest guitar's tone. It was definitely a Martin with a tone that compared that of its big brothers, but at a fraction of the price.
I know, there are cheaper alternatives out there that may in fact be better in many ways for even less, but lately the thought of that DR has been on my mind. I can't afford that HD-35 and as nice as all those Yamahas, Takamines, Taylors, Breedloves, etc....

Larrivee L-09 Aura - opinions from Martin players?
(07 Jun 2009)
Hi there. I'm looking for a new accoustic for the first time in many years. I was stunned to see just how many new makers are out there. Anyway, I have been offered a new Larravee L-09 with the aura system on board. I will use the guitar to perform live 2 nights a week and need it to do everything from finger style, flat-picking and hard strumming, so i need an all rounder. I have a Martin 00015 all mahogany that i've had since the mid 90's that i've been happy with on its own, but in the band c...

Martin Logan opinions
(22 Jun 2009)
I am new to this forum, so forgive me if my questions are "old hat." Here goes:
I recently listened to a pair of ML Source speakers and liked the open, airy sound. This got me to thinking about trading in my B&W N802's. The dealer gave me brochures that showed other models, such as the Purity (which is basically a Source with a built-in amp) and the Vista (no amp) and Vantage (w/amp for bass only).
Does anyone have any opinion about ML speakers in general and these models specifically, and can m...

Santa Cruz OM/PW vs Martin 000-18GE
(11 Jun 2009)
I'm pondering selling my 2006 Gibson J-45 because I'm just playing my Santa Cruz Vintage Artist a whole lot more.
I'm thinking about complimenting the VA with a smaller bodied guitar.
Any thoughts on the Santa Cruz OM/PW vs the Martin 000-18GE. I like that the Martin is short scale.
Thanks for any input.

Your opinion on lower Martin and Seagull spruce
(03 May 2009)
Thanks again to everyones inputs and encouragements from my other thread "Your opinions on finding a solid top beginners guitar".
I have spent the past two days test driving some beginners guitar. From what were available in three different local stores I have played from Yamaha FG730s and some entry levels Yamahas to bunch of Seagull S6, Entourage, Maritime, 25 Anniversary, Blueridges Br-40, Washburn D10s, Epiphone entry levels and AJ-500RE and Takamine G series
the Seagull always come ba...

Jacques Martin, second thoughts.
(30 Jun 2009)
I was thinking about that yesterday. At first I was happy with Martin's nomination as I thought he would be a good teacher to help the kid develop. But now when I look back to his legacy in Florida I see the exact opposite.
They had some highly touted prospects over the years but they've all terribly underachieved under Martin. Guys like Bouwmeester, Horton, Weiss and Olesz never lived up to their potential. Is it the players or the development? Should I be concerned? He had much better young pl...
