Hey, I'd like to know the opinions of people who have completed the DIT MA in Journalism recently. How did you find the course overall, have you managed to secure a job in a journalism related area and did you manage to get work experience during the year? Thanks

2. Help...fashion journalism   (17 Jun 2009)
Re: Help...fashion journalism   if you want to be a fashion journalist often the best thing to be doing is an english degree and keep up your interest in fashion. this way you know you are pushing your creative writing to the maximum and having the best possible teaching. often journalism degrees aren't taken seriously in the industry because they just teach you what the industry is about. it's easy to find out what it's about through work experience etc. Hadley Freeman is the best example of a...

3. Would Anyone Join This Type of Union (Gaming Journalism Related)?   (07 May 2009)
Would you join a union dedicated to providing up to date gaming information, game reviews (multi-platform), and anything newsworthy in the gaming world? Would you join as a reader, or as a contributor if you joined at all? I'm thinking about starting a union like this but I need charter members willing to take the plunge. Also, I don't know if there is already a union like this, but if there is, let me know.

4. [Other] Editorial: Thinking about Total Battlefield   (08 Apr 2009)
Five months ago, Spawndemon put his arm around my shoulders, pointed towards Total Battlefield, and said "Someday this will all be yours. Well, actually it's yours now. Have fun; try not to break anything." As I looked deep into his eyes, I could see that they had been jaded by the responsibility of running Total Battlefield in all its iterations for all these years. I swore to myself that I would carry on the legacy of the great men who served this post before me. I was one of the nearly 1,000...

Im on a pre-Scholarship with the Daily Mail now. If I pass im guaranteed a job as a sports journalist with them. Sounds like an ideal job but I practically could'nt sleep last night thinking about it. I want your opinion on it guys. It actually sounds incredibly hard when you think about it to formulate an 800+ wor...

8. Journalism of "Right and Wrong"...Not "Left a   (03 Jun 2009)
The premise of this post that I found is that the mainstream media too often thinks in terms of left-right, rather than right-wrong. Is it possible to do this without being considered bias and unprofessional? I highly recommend this post, for the simple fact that it is food for thought. I have already left a response on the site, but I would like to know what everyone else thinks about this topic as well. There is no doubt that this is a very tricky subject. http://progressnotcongress.org/blog/?...

9. something to think about   (03 May 2009)
Quote: : Not long ago, sports writer Selena Roberts compared the Duke lacrosse players to gang members and career criminals. She claimed that the players’ unwillingness to confess to or snitch about a rape (that did not happen) was the equivalent of drug dealers and gang members promoting antisnitching campaigns. When since-disgraced district attorney Mike Nifong whipped up a media posse to rain justice on the drunken, male college students, Roberts jumped on the fastest, most influential horse,...

10. Thinking about making the big switch...   (01 Jul 2009)
So I know I'm asking for it but I need input from all you mac users! I've been a PC user... well... forever. Only mac I've EVER used was waaayy back in freshman year of highschool when I was a nerdy journalism student... and I don't remember a THING about it. I'd like to think I can manage on a computer but honestly... the switch scares me. I back up to discs AND external hardrives.. will these hardrives still be readable from the mac? HONESTLY.. is it very difficult to learn my way around a mac...
