Please, before you complain more, stop and think about what you're saying...
(26 Jun 2009)
I keep seeing the same asinine complaints over and over again. Let's stop and think about them for a minute:
Complaint 1: The developers are releasing content without any regard for what the players think.
Reality: Developers exist to satisfy the players. While they may get some things wrong, everything they change is because they feel it will enhance the gameplay. They are not changing things because they want to piss you off. They are changing things because they think it will make you enjoy t...

Anyone in the GIS/cartography fields? I'm thinking about a career change,...
(14 May 2009)
I work for our local county government and the people in our GIS/Mapping department all seem to really like their jobs.
Of course every job is going to have it's complaints, but they make a half way decent wage and have a comfortable work environment.
If you have any specific questions, I can ask them tomorrow when I return to work.

Now that I think about it...
(14 May 2009)
The world really is stupid.
Starting with our country...
we're trillions of dollars in debt so we're fighting a war where we waste money for new weapons and the gas just to transport people. We can't really afford anything like that right now. And why are we in the war with Iraq and all those countries anyway? It's either because they bombed us, or oil or something stupid like that. I know a lot of people passed away in 9/11, but we're killing more people by sending them over there to fight for...

Jobs You'd Hate to Have
(18 Apr 2009)
I don't mean dirty jobs like cleaning sewers or scary jobs like exploding bombs -- I was thinking about this yesterday when I was watching an episode of How's It Made and they were showing how they prepare airline food. Anyway, in the course of the episode they talked about the people who plan the menus, come up with the recipes and then approve the meals. A lot of work seems to go into this and yet how many times do you ever meet anyone who likes airline food? Talk about a thankless job! I'd ha...

After school jobs, any opinions?
(03 Jun 2009)
I teach high school. 95% of my students go on to 4 year colleges - and they are exceptional at time management.
Babysitting is one job that you can take your homework with you. Another option, since she is an excellent student, is tutoring younger kids.
I'd suggest she try working during the summer and over the holiday seasons if you think during the school year is going to be too big of a time committment.
