1. What do you think about modern music?   (11 May 2009)
Hi I am a student who is doing a small questionnaire for my university project about the sound quality of modern music. If you listen to music then I am very much interested in your opinions. The questionnaire is short. You simply choose one answer from a series of multiple answers. It should take no longer than 2 minutes to complete. Please feel free to add your views here too. Do you think music is too loud or not loud enough? Can you tell the difference between sound quality of a CD or MP3. W...

2. Thinking about buy a sport classic.. fogged oil window?   (03 Jun 2009)
Hey guys, I actually live down in the bay area now of San Fran, but i'd liek to get multiple opinions... I'm looking at buying a ducati sport classic, and would like to get your opinion on two things. The first is, I'm looking at buying a Ducati sport Classic. (2007) The original owner dropped the bike at 50 miles, (not that slow at all) his body taking the brunt of the low side. I believe him after seeing the large scar and he has receipts proving the left side of the bike specifically was repl...

3. Activision/Blizzard thinking about taking out support for PS3/PSP?   (20 Jun 2009)
Yesterday, 06:20 AM http://gizmodo.com/5296617/the-bigge...o-ditch-ps3psp Quote: : This is bad. The prisoners have grabbed the keys. Activision Blizzard, the world's largest producer of video games, is publicly threatening to abandon Sony's PS3 and PSP platforms. From Activision Blizzard President and CEO Bobby Kotick: I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform. It's expensive to develop for the conso...

4. Sage client multiple instances across multiple desktops?   (20 May 2009)
As a previous user of SageTV at my old property, I have to confess that I have become a little out of touch over the past couple of years. Previously, I had run a server machine fitted with a dual DVB-T/Analogue tuner card, with an MVP client on the main living room TV and a selection of Windows/OSX clients elsewhere around the house. Now, having finally finished a 1 1/2 year renovation project on my new house, I'm looking to move in within the next couple of weeks. This also means that I need t...

5. Elements to Consider in Thinking about LOST   (21 Apr 2009)
Note (sorry for unintendeded redundanies between this post and those on other threads; am new to format) Elements: •Time mechanism:  The universe/world has a mechanism (clocklike) situated on an island of time/space by (ancient forebearers) •Time as non-linear; cyclical or spherical; return is the quality of cyclical time (see some thoughts on space-time below) •Universe’s mechanism in LOST has protections: a) cloud “monster” (thru volcanic channels) b) computer reset of sequence 108 until stabi...

6. Why do we need multiple American newspapers with foreign bureaus?   (11 May 2009)
Why do we need multiple American newspapers with foreign bureaus? I listened to an NPR talk show today where a speaker lamented the state of U.S. newspapers and how the ones that weren't shutting down were cutting staff drastically and that several papers like the Boston Globe (and others) didn't even have foreign bureaus or correspondents any more. In the midst of my commiserating, a little voice in my head asked: Well, how many U.S. newspapers need foreign bureaus, anyway? I'm a voracious read...

8. Multiple repositories or multiple subdirectories   (04 May 2009)
I have local mirrors of the Fedora repositories to serve the internal requirements without downloading each update for every machine. We do not install games nor KDE applications, but everytime there is an update for those packages the network is used. There are solutions like SpaceWalk for the updates problem, but at the same time we need to have some packages available to install if needed, not only updates. Another options is to use an intelligent mirror that check package groups and download...

9. Anyone else thinking about umbilical cord banking?   (18 Jun 2009)
DH weighing in here.... My Mom really wants us to do it. I have Multiple Sclerosis so it might well be worth it. Not for now, but for the future. Then again, I start thinking about Walt Disney's (Supposed) cryogenically frozen head and...

10. What do we think about Cedric Benson? (lengthy orig post fixed)   (21 May 2009)
Quote: I mean he looked really good last year. The staff seemed to believe in his "resurrection" by not drafting a RB save some headcase in the 7th round out of Abilene Christian"? They drafted nothing but help for Benson by spending their early picks on OL/C/TE, and improving their defense (which usually only helps running backs, especially the rb1's). Yet he is Ranked 31 in redraft and 42 dynasty? He's still relatively young, and if his head is right immensely talented? Am I missing something?...
