1. Debugging made easier with 'Retain Wire Values for the Whole Hierarchy' -...   (28 Apr 2009)
Debugging in LabVIEW is sometimes difficult because of the reason that the error happens not in the top level VI we are debugging, but in some of it's subVIs (or maybe a subVI inside a subVI and so on..). We need to run the VI repeatedly to see what's causing the error after doing a 'Retain Wire Values' on subVIs. Instead, we can have a method by which you can specify to 'Retain Wire Values for the Whole Hierarchy' before running the VI. And then debug the VI and its subVIs without having to re-...

2. Should the server be run in debug mode?   (17 Apr 2009)
So, I finally got around to getting my hands on a GDB restarter script. Thanks goes to reno and tarog. Anyway, running the server in debug mode will dump us useful crash logs so we can actually attempt to solve the crashes we've been having recently. However, debugging can slightly decrease the responsiveness of the server (such as when selecting talents). This is mostly the only drawback. So, opinions?

4. Q/A, Release builds vs Debug builds, and Assertions   (16 Apr 2009)
Just curious: When you release software builds to Q/A, do you prefer to always use the "RELEASE" version, or do you sometimes use the DEBUG version? Here's my conundrum: We like to use Asserts to trap for conditions that should never happen. On the one hand, it might be useful for Q/A to test our software with the Assertions enabled, so that if they can create a scenario that triggers an assertion, they can report it to us. On the other hand, there is always the risk that a developer has coded a...

5. Debug EXE   (10 May 2009)
Note: This is just a Prologue of a fanfic i've been wanting to do since junior year. If you guys have any suggestions after this, let me know. But hear it goes. Another thing is that I wrote this without thinking about Rnager continuinity, so if you have any suggestions on how to make this seem more cannon, then let me know. Power Rangers: Debug EXE "Prologue" August 28, 2025. The day that the blue skies turned into a scarlet red due to the “Day of Ragnorok” A war was waged on an unsuspecting pl...

6. New Installer   (07 May 2009)
Many of you are acquainted with Fantastico, the automatic application installer. Unfortunately it lacks some popular apps like Magento. That's why we have decided to use cPanel's cPaddons and create installations for the following apps: - Magento - vTiger - SugarCRM - MediaWiki Along with that we have included the official Dolphin cPaddon release. You are able to find these installations in cPanel, Site Software . We have gone through a lot of debugging and now it is time for some public testing...

7. Ping Joan, goddess of the motherboard   (09 May 2009)
On Sat, 9 May 2009 09:33:08 -0500, "VickieB" <VickieB@privacy.net A 'puter question please. Lately when I'm trying to post my blog I get a "fatal script error' notice. So I went to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and found the 'Disable script debugging, Internet Explorer' box...also 'Disable script debugging, Other'. Should they be checked or unchecked? Also - what do you think about using something like RegCure or ErrorFix? I DL RegCure, which found over 2,000 errors...but sure th...

8. Fast development, or stable results, which is more important for public web...   (14 May 2009)
This is really just me soliciting a number of opinions and as a relative newbie to this site, I hope I was correct in marking this post as a community Wiki. If I was mistaken, can someone please correct my mistake. Anyways, here is the scenario. I am developing a web application and a number of services in support of that application. I am having a nasty time of deciding how to do things. What I am working on is very feature oriented and to be honest, I can add new shiny features at a pretty goo...

9. My Life   (29 Apr 2009)
What the hell am I going to do with it?? I am tired of trying to figure out where I fit in life. I am currently a water damage technician working for my dad, but his company is about to go out of business. He is struggling to keep it going, but if I leave, thats it, doors closed (I'm the only technician). I could go and work for a competitor, which I am thinking very seriously of doing. I could take a class and become an insurance adjuster. Or I could finish school and do God-knows-what, but tha...

10. Re: Local Debugging on XPe?   (18 Jun 2009)
On Thu, 18 Jun 2009 06:27:07 -0700, "Mike Warren" <miwa-not-this-bit@or-this-csas.net.au I think only MS or a distributor would be able to answer that, but it seems to me the purpose of that license condition is to prevent XPe/WES based machines being used as standard computers, since the license is cheaper. My own personal opinion is that it would not be against the license (or, at least the spirit of the license) to debug on a sample of machines you are going to distribute. Just don't...
