1. Does photoshop use multi cores? And graphic card?   (11 Jun 2009)
Hi All Just another quick question, I have been asked to put a pc together for some one that will be using photoshop a lot. My question is, does photoshop make use of multi core processors? Or will it just use one core of the four? Is it worth getting a quad for photoshop? Also while im thinking about it, what graphic card do i put in? Does photshop use any power from the grahic card? Is it worth getting an expensive graphic card for photoshop? He uses CS3. Thanks

2. PC specification for Photoshop:   (18 May 2009)
Yep, I know this is the most frequent of FAQs but the landscape is changing almost weekly so I hope you won't mind if I ask this question. I'm about to replace my ageing desktop PC. In the past I would have been considered fairly tech-savvy but I've fallen behind a bit lately so I could do with some advice on the specifics. I'll be using this for professional graphic design work and photography, with Photoshop being by far the most demanding application. Currently CS3, with an upgrade to CS4 in...

3. imovie and MBA rev.a?   (14 Jun 2009)
I am in search of a new computer and I am thinking about getting a MBA first gen as my friend told me just today that he is selling his perfectly new looking MBA with the x3100 gpu for 550(I can talk him down to 500usd) cause he really want to get the new MBA with SSD as that is a lower price. The model he is selling is the HDD model. I do a lot of moving editing with imovie, and use Photoshop CS3 for some light editing and I wanted to know if this rev of the MBA with the older gpu do a solid jo...

4. apple aperture 2   (02 May 2009)
Hallo, I am wanting to hear peoples' opinions and experiences with aperture. Mainly, since I know absolutely nothing about this software, I would like to know whether it is a reasonable substitute for a photographer who only uses Photoshop cs3 for accurate colour adjustments, precision curves, blend modes, sharpening and colour cast corrections via rgb numbers not by sight. So in light of what I use photoshop for and bridge, is apple aperture a good substitute? Thanks chris

6. imovie and MBA?   (14 Jun 2009)
I am in search of a new computer and I am thinking about getting a MBA first gen as my friend told me recently that he is selling his perfectly new looking MBA first gen with the x3100 gpu for 550usd cause he really want to get the new MBA with SSD at the new lower price. The model he is selling is the HDD model. I do a lot of moving editing with imovie(and possible moving to final cut express if it supports it), and use Photoshop CS3 for some light editing and I wanted to know if this rev of th...

7. First post - Digital Painting WIP   (19 Apr 2009)
x-posted in the Figure section, also. Been working on this one today. I decided to discard the 'lines' and simply digitally paint her instead. I'm using Photoshop CS3, Bamboo Tablet and so many layers I lost count. Also, many brushes. It's a bit of a mess at the moment, but I think she's getting there ^^ Uhm, didn't really time myself, but I think that's about three hours in painting so far. Original size is 1200pxls by 2160pxls --- Ah - here's a screencap close up. c.c H

8. help with Barrel Distortion/Lens Correction please (thanks):   (01 May 2009)
Hi All, I am fine with nearly every aspect of photo retouching - except 1... Lens Barrel Distortion. I have used the len correction tool in PhotoShopCS3 but for some reason I find it VERY VERY difficult to actually notice lens distortion. Anyway, if any kind persons out there have any tips for me to see just how distorted or barreled my photos are then that would be very much aprpeciated. I have 298 photos to process from a recent 'tall ships' shoot but the main thing I need to concentrate on is...

9. Photo Enhancing...   (19 Apr 2009)
Hi, I just watched the epic film Bullitt and it was amazing, and I wanted to grab a couple of frames from it to use as a wallpaper. The problem I’m having is that the resolution I’ve blown it up to (1920 x 1080) is too high and it's made it rather pixelated and grainy. I have Photoshop CS3 with the NIK Efex 3.0 filter add-on and the best I can do is... From this: To This: It'd be interesting to get opinions/ideas and also get some of the keen photographers having a go (download original size her...

10. My CS3 Experience   (17 May 2009)
I’ve been using PSE4 for about 3 years and just recently had the opportunity to get a bargain price on CS3 (actually, it was a gift, but DS1 got a bargain price) and I decided to give it a shot to see whether I wanted to go on with “full blown” Photoshop or move on to the latest version of Photoshop Elements. Advice from Wendy Williams – stick to CS3 and don’t go back and forth. Great advice, but my frustration level was getting high and the need to get some things done in a hurry meant I didn’t...
