What Do Some Japanese Gamers Think About Online Gaming/Distribution?

Japanese magazine Famitsu has polled a pool of 798 about their thoughts on what's going on with the game industry. The most interesting data was with online gaming.
While 90 percent of those polled have used some sort of home console or portable console, only 24 percent of those have actually paid to use said service meaning, we assume, they're not using paid services like Xbox LIVE. What's more, 58.5 percent use those networks for wireless ad hoc play (think Monster Hunter on the PSP).

How do you feel about the current state of the console hardware, now that we are a good 3-4 years into this console generation, and how old are you? Is it time for new consoles? If you were gaming last-gen, how did you feel about the same question circa '03 and '04?

Ive started working on a console idea for my truck for the switches and gauges Im wanting to put in. I may wait on the gauges cause its gonna be expensive to buy the ones I want, but will be ready to put them in when I am. I hope the drawing makes sense. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. console port?

I have been researching the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. console port and i have not been able to find much but I heard that it may be called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Flashback but I also heard that its just going to be a revamped version of Shadow Of Chernobyl. If anyone has any information about this I would very much like to hear what you know of it and also what are your opinions of it and what would you like including in it? Like a collectors edition, special packaging, revamped graphics, etc.

Why doesn't Sony drop the console and become 3rd party?

I started to think about this today, why doesn't Sony just drop the PS3 and console business and just become a software producing company? I mean, why wouldn't it make sense. They are losing money on every system that they sell. They could still make Blu-Ray players. I will not argue that Sony has some really good people to make the games for them, why not just make them for the Wii and 360? Help an old guy out: which console?

I haven't owned a console since the atari 2600 days, but my wife came home with a Wii recently. We have fun playing some of the Wii games, but I like FPS games (the more mindless and gory the better) and so was thinking about a PS3 or XBox360. I would like a console with good FPS games, good racing games, and some games the wife and I could play together (she likes things like Zelda and puzzle games). Is one console better than the other or is it a wash?

I'll start by saying I own a Wii, 360, DS, PSP, and a gaming PC.
So I noticed that people are saying things like the Wii is back. But the problem with that is, even if the Wii got apparently like 10 new games in the next 2-3 months that still would not matter. The Wii is great for multiplayer and it has a few good games for singleplayer. Because the thing is, the Wii's games are much lower quality than PS3/360's.
