2m defensive uses a year? Lets have a think about that ..
(02 Jun 2009)
Pro gunner A keeps stating there are 2 million defensive uses of guns in the US per year.
Pro gunner B said that a gun should only be pointed at someone EVER if you're prepared to fire.
Pro gunner C said that a gun should only ever be used if you are in significant risk of serious or life threatening assault.
Let's me generous to the pro-gunners, and say only 80% of the 'crimes' stopped by these 'defensive guns' would have otherwise happened.
ONE of the below must, logically, be true
1) Without...

The defensive blueprint: Celtics defense on Bryant in last years NBA finals...
(04 May 2009)
There has been alot of talk in the BBS about what defensive strategy the Rockets should use against the Lakers. Quite a few posters argue that the best way to defend the Lakers is to let Bryant score his points and shut down the rest of the guys. I strongly disagree with that argument. If you look at our losses to LA this year, it was Kobe who made plays in crunch time when the game was on the line. Let's face it. When LA needs a basket, Bryant is going to be the guy with the ball in his hands l...

Attacking with defensive troops
(05 May 2009)
I've seen alot of people attack with a broad mix of all their troop types. If you are attacking something, and you are not concerned about defense at the moment, is it wise to send all your troops offensive and defensive, or is that a mistake?
When I think about it, if you are going to send offensive troops somewhere, they can only be helped by whatever else you can send with them, and will always take fewer losses than attacking with your offense alone. Is that correct?

Maurice Richard's Defensive Play
(29 Jun 2009)
Everyone knows Richard is one of the best goal scorers of all-time. He's one of the best at scoring in important situations. And was was tough, fiery, and intense.
But the few references I can find to his defensive game, indicate that he was not a defensive player by any stretch. Overall, little is said, but what I have found when reading bios and stories of old players, is that only the players who were among the worst defensively have anything mentioned about it - such as Nels Stewart, Babe Dy...

Defensive Middie Stick
(24 May 2009)
Hey, I was planning on buying a defense shaft (warrior platinum) and sawing it down to 46" and putting a head on it to play defensive mid. Long sticks are too annoying and useless on the offensive end. I was also thinking about using a goalie shaft too.
I know the standard rules are 40-42 inch sticks and any shorter would be an advantage, but how about any longer? Are 56" and 50" sticks allowed on the midfield position. I know the talon protector is 46" for youth but its too much money.
I need t...

What is the best defensive pokemon?
(16 Apr 2009)
I was thinking about a Lv. 100 Snorlax with the following:
Snorlax
100
Defense Curl
Light Screen
Rest
Snore
Would that be a good defender?

How would you rank the 5 best defensive players in the league?
(25 May 2009)
1. Albert Haynesworth
2. Nnamdi Asomugha
3. Demarcus Ware
4. Ed Reed
5. Patrick Willis
I got to thinking about this because I saw someone say something about Haynesworth that lead me to believe he didn't have a clue how great of a player he is than started to compare him to the best players at the other defensive positions and this is the list I came up with.
Is there a better DT, CB, DE/OLB, S or MLB than those 5? Albert and Nnamdi currently are without equals IMO. Ware you could argue against...

Posted: Thu Apr 16, 2009 6:43 pm Post subject: Something to think about with Clay Matthews Out of nowhere I was thinking about Clay Matthews and something just finally made a lot of sense to me. Clay Matthews, who played some DE at USC, would probably put his hand in the ground from time to time and rush as a defensive end on 3rd downs if we drafted him. When...

Oakland Raiders Facing Defensive Uncertainty
(07 Jul 2009)
At first thought, I could confidently predict what the Raiders' defensive starting lineup will look like.
But then again, after a second look considering rumors and speculation, it is not so clear.
All kinds of things can mix up the starting lineup, anything from the Draft to injuries to trades, or even a former backup stepping it up to crack that starting lineup.
To make matters worse, Al Davis and the Raiders tend to be secretive and shrouded in mystery, leaking very little to the media. Raide...
