What Do Some Japanese Gamers Think About Online Gaming/Distribution?
(14 Apr 2009)
Japanese magazine Famitsu has polled a pool of 798 about their thoughts on what's going on with the game industry. The most interesting data was with online gaming.
While 90 percent of those polled have used some sort of home console or portable console, only 24 percent of those have actually paid to use said service meaning, we assume, they're not using paid services like Xbox LIVE. What's more, 58.5 percent use those networks for wireless ad hoc play (think Monster Hunter on the PSP).

Thinking about moving to Finland
(04 Jul 2009)
Hi there,
I've been thinking about moving for awhile now. I couldn't really come up with an ideal country, however, after talking with some friends, Finland seemed a great place.
I'm Portuguese (EU Citizen), 21 years old and I've got a degree at Multimedia (making websites, and that sort of things). I used to work for Nokia Siemens Networks, so I'm quite familiar with telecoms technology. I'm also quite good with languages; I speak Portuguese, Spanish, English and Dutch (and I learn languages pr...

Which IM networks do you use?
(30 May 2009)
Title says it all, which IM networks do you use and which is your primary network?
I've always used WLM because that's what everyone else I talk to uses. Though if I ever had the opportunity to switch, I would in a heartbeat. I can't even really try other clients or networks because, again, I don't know anybody who uses them.
(And I know, this is sort of a duplicate of the front page pole we had a little while back, but I would like to hear some opinions on the matter as well)

SOCIAL NETWORKS: How should businesses react?
(28 Jun 2009)
New social networks are proliferating across the Web and have fundamentally changed the way businesses communicate. Initially, blogs, bulletin boards, viral marketing and user-generated content emerged and created opportunities and threats for PR and marketing departments. A transition began from push down message boards to interactive conversations with real time participants. Users of these technologies became empowered; information both legitimate and false now had a means to spread rap...

All Major US Broadcast Networks Blackout of David Barstow's Pulitzer Prize...
(22 Apr 2009)
In the post linked here,
http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.ph...st&p=165700 ....a week ago, I posted that all US major broadcast networks blacked out, David Barstow's reporting in the NY Times, beginning in April, 2008, that the networks used retired US Military generals as "consultants", in the run up to the invasion of Iraq, and until now, represented by the networks as independent military consultants retained by the networks to give expert opinions on military matters. The networks hav...

Why don't networks do more shortened seasons of shows?
(05 May 2009)
It came out today that NBC is picking up Southland for a 13-episode second season... I'm not sure if it's 13 eps with a chance for more, or just a shortened 13 episode season, but it got me thinking about TV scheduling in general.
I get that TV is a business, and while fans are focused on the creative aspects, it's the business side that dominates. So while some shows might be good creatively (Dollhouse, Terminator, Chuck, Pushing Daises, , etc), if not enough people watch, they're gone. Network...

When networks aren't what their title implies.
(26 Apr 2009)
MTV is the most well-known and probably first example of this. MTV = MUSIC Television. They played music videos. Then they played shows about music, like news and gameshows and stuff. Beavis and Butthead even stuck to this theme, as they'd do short segments heckling music videos. Then came Daria and Celebrity Death Match, et al. Somehow this degraded into hours upon hours of Real World, Road Rules and Real World vs. Road Rules Challenge. The only music you can find on the station is on TRL, and...

Need advice on networks offering CPM ads
(08 Jun 2009)
Hello everybody,
I run a website which has the following traffic stats and features:
- around 350,000 page views / month
- traffic is from worldwide (40% USA, 40% China, 20% other)
- it offers content for International B2B community
It has performed poorly with Adsense over the years, so I discontinued Adsense.
I'm now looking for any CPM options. I'd appreciate advice on reliable affiliate networks offering CPM campaigns.
There are many, all of them making great promises; I have no any experien...
