What do you guys think about the dueling aspect of Pokemon?

IMO, I find that the game (including all games, such as R/S/E FR/LG, etc) is very good competition-wise, but at the same time, I am turned off because of how deep the game is. I started playing Pearl about a little more than a year ago, but stopped. I guess I couldn't deal with how the game is so deep and so much to do for it if you are into dueling. For example, I learned about EV training, and I was thinking, cool, I can choose my Pokemons' stats. Then I learned that there was more, such as Sh...

I bought the Platinum for my 9y/o cousin since today is his birthday. I only played about 25 minutes of it, but the game still plays exactly like the original Blue/Red(which were the last Pokemon games I played). So the nostalgia factor alone is making me seriously consider picking it up. I don't know anyone around my age who owns any of the latest versions, and I know some big time video game freaks. And I can't think of what I would say if a friend or my gf sees me playing it.

I'm new to these forums, so I don't know if anyone has actually posted something about this yet, but the Pokemon pedometer that they're making for hg/ss looks pretty cool. the forgotten pokemon

I was thinking some days ago, it seems like there are some pokemon that appears to be forgotten at all in the pokemon game, some pokemon like delibird, so I was thinking about, what other pokemon do you think are forgotten? and what uses do you think people may give to them to make them useful?

I personally think that is just gross. I already saw pictures of how they might look like. I just can't stop thinking about it.

Which of Ash's Pokemon, other than Pikachu, has the closest bond with him...

I was thinking about this today. Ash and Pikachu are obviously "besties", but he does have, what?, about 25 other Pokemon (55 if you count all 30 Tauros)
So, other than Pikachu, which Pokemon do you think Ash has the closest bond with?
I would say one of his Kanto pokemon: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charizard, or Pidgeot (even though it's not his anymore), or Bayleef. Chimmy of course and possibly Gliscor.
